Reloading the 277 Fury 6.8x51 SIG Hybrid Case

I haven't seen any true Fury neck ups, just 308 based conversations, i.e. 338 Fed, 358 win, 375 Raptor, 45 Raptor. 45 Raptor is straight walled.

Keeping the full Fury shoulder and case length (same as 308) would be too long for AR10 magazines and true short actions with 338/375 bullets.

I think 10mm is as big as we can go keeping them full length and not going straight wall.
Cool.

I was just being a smart azz.

I have a 450 Marlin barrel with a .460 suppressor in the back of the safe for that game.

Whos necked up this case??? 308 case size really shines when you move to a 35 or 375 cal bullet. Also a straight wall would be interesting for those poor folks that live in caliber restricted states.
I've done the 338fed. Within 50fps of 338wm.
I need to pull that barrel and see what it looks like now.

I did a 450 Marlin AR-10 a long time ago. it was fun for a minute but completely useless...
Mine is a Desert Tech SRS A2.

I bought the barrel for an Iowa tag.

Here where I live I want to "get around" to trying the 410gr sub-x bullet on whitetail with Trailboss or VV330 or Unique.

It seems like in its full form with the 350rn it would field dress them on the hoof.

I have some 250gr TSX I want to try too.

So many better options.

I put a long action bolt stop on my tikka 308 action and use 300 win mag magazines.

It seems like 338 would be doable on a tikka action if loaded long with the same set up.

There's a little room left in my mags and I'm at 2.97.

Oh, yeah you should be good with a Tikka. Factory magazines in other actions is what I was referencing.

45-90 on SH has posted about forming the hybrid brass into 358 Win and 8.6 BLK. He's also seeing the chamber gouging but doesn't care much as he chambers his own barrels.

Finally got my powder from minnesota so I will get some data up for a 375 raptor soon. Really hoping we can see 2400+ with 270g.

Oh that's out of a 16in barrel btw
I like the way you think! Random thought: the Speer 270gr BTSP’s would be a good (and decently priced) option there to maximize speed/upset potential on target, decent bc (for 375), and short bearing surface relative to other options if you’re into that type of bullet

That's actually the bullet the cartridge was designed around!

I just got my barrel back from H&M.

There's definitely "something going on" at 150 rounds or so but not like that photo farther back in the thread with more rounds on it.

I'm going to finish fire forming with the 195gr TMKS's I have left then try some 215 and 205 Berger Elite Hunters to see if I can make Quick Drop and stick it in the back of the safe for a rainy day, brown bear or polar bear hunt, or elephant hunt.

I flinched like a little beeyatch the other night dry firing a 22 creedmoor and I am totally playing the blame game on this project.

That's the beginning of the damage. If you fire an all brass case you might see a faint "band" at the same location

I keep hearing about issues with the XM7 program, but if I am honest, I haven't heard about this wear at the the steel/brass interface.

Have any of you guys seen or heard about this failure mode in the XM7 or even the sig cross chambered in sig fury?

Good deal.

I don't intend to shoot any all brass cases in the barrel from here on out so hopefully it just wrecks itself on a bell curve with its barrel life or reaches a point where it doesn't get any worse.

You'll eventually get heavy bolt lift. But the barrel will otherwise be fine.
