I'm looking into a Tikka 1:8 243. I handload and I'd like to shoot the 108/109 ELDm. Are there any modifications I need to make or things to take into consideration in order to do this or can I keep everything stock?
I have a Tikka 1:8 243 that I had the barrel chopped to 16”. I shoot 108 ELD-Ms from Unknown Munitions and it shoots light out. I haven’t done any other modifications at all.
Just received a tikka superlite .243 win with the updated 8 twist barrel. For the guys who have been loading for this particular rifle, what bullets are you finding that the 8 twist likes? I was going to try 108 eldm first then move onto 103 eldx or 95 TMK next if the 108’s don’t pan out. The two powders I have on hand are H4831sc and Staball 6.5.
So here we go. New rifle, new load. Rifle: tikka t3x superlite .243 win 8 twist 22” barrel brass: starline (virgin) Primer: CCI 200
Powder: win staball 6.5 (43gr) 1 round loaded to check pressure
Bullet: hornady 105 bthp
COAL: 2.750”
I was hoping to be able to seat the bullet at 2.830” which placed it perfectly at the neck/shoulder jct of the case and would just fit in the M magazine. This was not the case. Ended up seating my way down to 2.750” before no lands marks...
