Basically the title, looking for something that's bulletproof under $1500 with the following specs.

  • Low end of 2-4x, and a high end in the 12-18 range
  • 40-44mm objective, if it has to be a 50mm then that's also fine but bigger than 50 is a deal breaker
  • Weight irrelevant
  • I prefer an exposed elevation turret
  • MOA or MIL reticle, MIL preferred but MOA will be alright
  • SFP or FFP doesn't matter but if it's FFP it either needs to have a usable reticle for low light at the bottom end of magnification or be illuminated
That's about it, any help greatly appreciated

Trijicon, NF, and S&B (Klassik 3-12x42) all make scopes that fit that description. The Maven RS1.2 also.

SWFA 3-15 fits that description and is easily enough to find still.

The 5-20 is slightly outside your preferred specs but is great as well.

Bushnell LRHS or LRTS have been shown to be durable and can be found also. The LRHS2 has intrigued me but I’ve never owned one or seen one tested

I've been scope shopping with an almost identical set of requirements. Honestly it's looking like the NF SHV will be my go to. People seem to complain about them on the internet but they're available and proven at this point.

I am watching the Leupold MK4HD but not holding my breath on it.

I've had some issues with Zeiss and their warranty. Had an issue with Swarovski but warranty was outstanding, same with Nikon. Never had an issue yet with Nightforce or Trijicon.

Trijicon Credo 2.5-15x42. Pretty much nails your requirements.

Nikon stopped making rifle scopes a few years ago. Good luck with their warranty now.
