Had a scott release mongoose XT and the spring broke. Emailed them and no response. I just started archery this year so kind of want to stick to a wrist strap dont want to mess things up really. Im in a pickle as it being mid season. I emailed both carter and Hamskea. I was considering the Drop tine but unsure of just the clip since I was used to the full clamp with the mongoose. Any suggestions with a release would be great.

Scott little goose is a good wrist strap release. Shot one for years.

My only experience with Scott customer service/warranty was great. I had an exxus that got worn to the point where my string loop was pulling through between the hook and body. They sent me a brand new one. I don't remember how long it took to get it though. It was in the offseason so I wasn't in a hurry.

I prefer a hook release to a caliper but wouldn't recommend switching mid season. You best bet is to replace the spring and then if you want to make the switch do it in the off season. The hook release isn't going to just be a buy it and keep shooting as you were.

I'd call Scott or email them again. They will send you a spring for free. I've replaced several of the springs in my Scott releases and they have always been good about getting back to me. One time they did not respond to an email but the springs showed up in my mailbox a few days after I sent the email.

so how do I get to the spring and remove the claw?

You don't have to remove the claw. There is a silver set screw on the release behind the trigger. It is cut for a flat blade screwdriver. Just back that screw out and the spring is underneath. Just dump it out and make sure both pieces come out. The end of the set screw has a little nipple on it that fits into the middle of the new spring. Drop the new spring in, put the nipple in the middle and compress the spring and screw back in.

I'd pursue a new spring. I've shot a Mongoose since the before the Baby Goose came around...I still shoot them because I love them so much.

That looks like the trigger adjusment screw. Flip it over, is there a set screw, probably allen head on the other side of the release?

There are two set screws, the one at the base of the trigger is the trigger adjusment. The other one should hold the spring. The spring screw will also be larger than the trigger adjustment screw.

They are also going to ask you which spring. They have three, light, medium and heavy. Based on your picture I'd say it is the heavy spring. If you aren't sure tell Scott you want a heavy and a medium, then you can compare when you get them. It is definitely not the light spring.

I also always ask for three of them so I have extras on hand. It is going to break again.

I've been really happy with my Carter Like Mike. I also have a Wise Guy as a backup. Both are good releases and I havent had any issues with the hook over the clamp style jaws.

Carter is all I have used for a few years now. I put them through hell for three months straight every fall and they just keep on working. The Rx-1 and the Honey are my go to.

Well after much of a dogfight I finally got an RMA with scott. I had to email them twice second one finally got a response then no response from them. I did write a somewhat negative review on facebook with their customer service someone reached out and sent a number. Sent an email back to them in response to second email. Finally had to call tried calling 3 times and got ahold of the person that sent me the message. Left a bitter taste in my mouth not what I expect from a company that says lifetime warranty.

The hook style is the fastest hookup you can get with a release. I can do it with my eyes closed. Scott rino is the one I use but other brands are probably just as good. They do change poi just a little over caliper type.

I need help with this. I've tried to get the screw out and it's not working.
