After a good day...how do you guys relax?

Nothing like pounding some good pure protein after days of backpacking food

You don't. I hunted for 16 days with my desert tag in my pocket, and I was a nervous wreck the whole time. But loving every second of it!

How you do it is up to you, but as to where... I can't think of a better place than next to a caped out ram's skull.

Nice ram! I demand more pics... :)

Relaxing is definitely easier once the sheep is/are down. Unfortunately, sheep hunts are generally too expensive for most to really enjoy unless you completely erase the cost from your mind. The last thing you need to think about is the cost of a missed shot opportunity to add more pressure. After a successful day in the field, it's a lot easier to enjoy the scenery and sit back and enjoy the campfire. Damn, I miss those days.:) Nice sheep. Been waiting impatiently for the rest of the story and more pictures. Don't drag it out like last year, J Dog. Nothing like fresh sheep on the fire. Can't beat the rib meat.

Hopefully I can actually have an answer this year. Seems like we're always rolling in exhausted at the end of the day. Congrats on the ram.

I don't even need to be in camp, I'm so calm that I can relax while glassing.

waiting to get my photos together...brother has them in the mail my way--patience grasshopper--it will be worth it

I think the real question is, how do you relax BEFORE sheep camp. Waiting for my brother-in-law to finish a night shift before we can start the pack in. It's painful, unpacked and repacked so many times that I'm wearing out my straps and buckles.

By the way Jdog, love the panoramic black and white pic to start the thread. Thats the type of picture that could hang on a games room wall.

This is what a .270 win mag 130 grain triple shock looks like after a 500 yard throat shot on a dall sheep--bullet ended up near the backstrap.

another angle...perhaps better as this one really shows the retained mass :)

Thanks...that is my brothers ram from this year.

But teacher, I have no patience and time is getting short before I leave. You seem to like to tease us and like the saying goes: "never tease a weasel".

Thanks.

Oh, by the way, the best way to relax is about two weeks out of the office without the phones ringing, text messages, emails and appointments. I have never seen a Monday like today. Told one secretary that I was ready to leave starting tomorrow. She didn't seem to enjoy the humor after I was contemplating physical harm to several idiots this morning (not in the presence of the idiots, of course). People seem to sense when you are getting ready to leave and all want to talk to or see you before you leave. Nice to feel needed, but I need to go. My wife told me at lunch that she wished I would have left about 2 weeks ago. She claimed I am OCC. Sorry for the rambling.

J Dog, I do enjoy your stories and photos. Great work.

Obviously, many of you have much field skills that I do. I was happy to stretch a tarp over a willow bush and cook out of the rain once in a while.

My dad is trying to teach me the finer points of pacing myself. He maintains that a periodic rests makes for a better hunter... and screw the rain.

I'm still working on it.

Yk
