Anybody have experience with this bag?

Claimed weight is lighter than the Helium.

Trying to decide between it and a Helium...also can't get those dang quilts out of my head though!

I have the Helium and never used it one time since I got my 30* Zpacks quilt.

I also just picked up the Rev-x 20* for my wife. I got the older version with the 850 down.

Yeah, from reading here the quilt does seem to be the way to go, I'm just not too excited about upgrading my sleeping pad as well, but I guess a quilt and pad is probably gonna be close to the same price as a Helium or Igneo.

Which pad are you using?

You don't really need a better pad with a quilt than you use with a full bag.

The bottom of your sleeping bag doesn't add very much warmth anyway.

Yes, I purchased this bag this past spring. I had been searching for a down bag that was also rain resistant and didn't want to shell out a ton of coin to get. This bag fit the bill perfectly. It is lightweight and rain "resistant" not proof.

I used the bag this past year on archery elk hunts in NW Oregon, Idaho and Montana. Used in MT and OR without a tent/shelter and it worked very well. When I camped out in OR there was high humidity and some mist/slight rain at night. This bag worked very well and as claimed by REI and I didn't get wet, nor did the down get wet.

In MT there wasn't the issue of rain, but camped out w/out a tent/shelter and it was VERY windy and it dipped below freezing during the night. I had on lightweight top and bottoms and a FL beanie and the bag kept warm during the night. The only thing that kept waking me up during the night were the bulls that continued to bugle!

In my opinion, this bag is definitely worth the money and I'm very happy that I purchased it. Thankfully I got it while REI was running one of their sales and didn't pay full price, but would recommend this bag for sure.

I have a Klymit Static V and one of the foam fold up Thermarest pads, neither have much R value.

I'd probably be alright with those in Aug/Sept and I guess if needed I could combine them for Oct hunts and probably be good to go huh?

I'm most likely gonna end up with a quilt, the great reviews by everyone here combined with the weight, packability and price compared to the $350+ bags is too good for me to pass up!

Give me a call anytime if you want to talk quilts. I am available from 4:00 PT until early evening during the week. 206-786-0889

I would also recommend getting the Therarest Xtherm pad if you decide to upgrade.
