I've seen some posts here mentioning the REI Half Dome 2 in the past but nothing too in depth. Looking to see how those that have had it and used it a fair amount feel about now. I picked it up on sale from REI recently for a September backpack hunt. Seems well built and roomy for the weight. For those that have it and use it, still think it holds up?

I bought one in 2019, sold it a couple years ago. It was decent. Definitely snug for two guys. My buddy had a wide pad one trip and it did not fit well next to my regular width pad. Probably comfortable for up to a 6'-2" person. Solid amount of vestibule space. Held up to snow pretty well. Only sold it to go floorless and cut down on weight some.

I've had one since 2016. I've used it at least a week every year. I can cram two long/wide pads in there and have a little room for stuff at the end, but mainly use it by myself and have plenty of room. I've had it in rain and snow without any leaks. I've re-waterproofed it once. I like the vestibules. I can put a tote under one and keep my boots and camp shoes in the other. Only complaint might be that it's a little heavier than some.

Good stuff above. Bought one a couple years ago on sale. Looked hard at a few other UL 2-man tents (tigerwall/nemo dagger) cuz I'm 6'4". But just couldnt afford it. The sl2+ is great for what it is. It's heavier but also more durable material. Im hard on stuff, so a couple extra pounds on a few mile hike is no biggie. Wouldnt be my go-to long range. Love the height, double vestibule and ease of setup. I'll eventually drop some $$ and get a trekking pole tent but I'll keep the REI for shorter stuff.

I had one but it wasn't the best for true backpack hunts. Bulky and heavy compared to a lot of other options, but decent tent. That being said, if it's what you got, it will serve you well. You can spend hundreds of dollars to save a few pounds, or use what you have until it's time to upgrade.

Well said. Also.
