Redding Competition Shell Holder

What are thoughts for those who use these or know about them. Is it worth it? Seems like an easier way to get to desired bump wanted and works with a lot of calibers. I’m pretty interested.

I have a standard and a magnum set they work great for bumping shoulders while still getting cam over to take the slop out of your press.

I have a couple sets and they work well for their purpose. I recently saw some cheaper ones on Amazon but haven’t tried them yet

Usually eliminates having to set up a sizing die for desired shoulder bump.

I avoided getting them for a long time but I do believe they are worth it.

I used them for various calibers - primarily for PRS shooting. Great for getting a small shoulder bump and not over sizing brass - I trimmed less frequently and extended brass life compared to full length sizing. Once you figure out which shellholder to use, just write it down for each gun/load.

Those are one of my most recent additions. Huge headache saver, and results are more consistent. I should have gotten them years ago.

They are a must have in my opinion. You'd be surprised the amount of (excessive) shoulder bump you'll get using certain dies alone with some barrels. You're brass will last much, much longer when using only the min amount of bump you need for your barrel(s). I used to get 3-4 firings on grendel and 5-6 on creedmoors but using the set and only bumping 1-3 thousandths I usually get 6+ and 10+ now.
You'll need a case comparator to really make use of the set though, keep that sin mind.

Sounds like a good Father’s Day gift then for me. So that’s what I’ll do and see if the sides gets them. As far as interchangeable from caliber to caliber is it pretty fair to use for all that are listed for each shell holder as well?

I’m not sure exactly what your asking but if the cartridge your wanting to load for is on the list for that shell holder set then your good. The #1 covers most .473 bolt face cartridges except for a few oddballs but double check the charts depending on what your loading.

I like mine, but you'll likely find a need to highlight each shellholder measurement so they are easier to read. It also gets your attention when in the press so you remember to check that it's the right one.

Like 1 is good for 243 and 22-250. Like there are no issues with the shell holder and all fit correctly. I think all the PRC use the same one and the 6.8 SPC use the same one as the PRC. So just wondering if they all hold and fit as well as the list represents for that shell hopefully that makes more sense. I find it weird a 6.8SPC can be there same shell holder as all the PRC

like if they list a size for a certain cartridge I’d expect it to work for that cartridge.

It doesn’t, the #6 covers all the PRC’s, wsm’s, saums etc. The 6.8 SPC takes a #5 I believe.
