Red Dots over 1x scope? Yes or No?

Just remember that prisms don’t have the unlimited eye relief like the red dot and parallex is worse.

Red dots tend to be much much lighter as well

Gotcha. I'd run a micro prism then.

Not the case with the micro prism. Has incredible eye relief, very flexible, very subtle difference between a red dot. Maybe a couple oz heavier.

Yeah there’s no perceivable limit to eye relief looking through my micro prism from a shooting position. I can move my face back and forth on the stock with no issues.

The GLX is supposed to have improved eye relief/box too per PA on arfcom

I’ve found some 1x scopes/prisms will give people double vision shooting both eyes open while red dots do not.

Some red dots (holosun, sig) have backup solar if battery is a concern, but the battery lives are measured in the tens of thousands of hours.

If you’re looking for a very light 1x the primary arms slx 1x gen 2 microprism is very popular in the ar world. They are coming out with a nicer Glx version next month or July.

If you see that new Glx version out please let me know.

In pics of that micro prism it mounts really high but it looks like that center piece may be removable to mount lower. Is that the case?

Yes it comes with a bunch of different mounts for height options

They have about the same glass and I like the reticle better on the Athlon. From what I hear the primary should be more dependable though. I’ll shoot both and drop them a little and see which one I trust.

Went to peep sights after shooting them both. The athlon didn’t hold zero and I liked the primary arms but I didn’t feel like it had a real Advantage over the peep sight with the .19 front fiber optic. With how closely the peep and primary arms performed for me I decided to go back to the peep sight I know and trust.

Thanks for the info. How does the open sights do at longer distances? Have you co aided the Williams globe and front BDC sight?

I’m really confident to 200. 250 with the right back drop on deer and most situations on elk. I use the Williams globe with the .19 fiber optic. I’m 5 inches high at 100, dead on at 175, 3 inches low at 200, 15 at 225, and 30 at 250 so I just aim high for further shots.

The crosshairs were really hard for me to see with the BDC in less than perfect light. I definitely prefer the fiber optics. If you have a good flat shooting load the single fiber optic is plenty.
