The originator of Nockturnals has now come out with Glory Nock , nice handy switch in the nock to turn it off after shooting , I do like these better , both deer tags filled this year , white wraps/white tiger stripe blazers/ Glory nocks = blind man can find these and one was buried under corn stalks , dead simple to see and find

I'd you go lighted nocks you better use them all the time. I haven't found one that fits the same.

And I'm not spending that kind of money. Spent several years building practice nocks when they came out. I won't do it anymore....

They aren't as bright as a lighted nock, but in the morning I usually don't have trouble finding my arrow, late evening is a different story.



They aren't like a lighted nock. I use to shoot light up nocks and you could follow them from 200 yards out. The glow is subtle. However it always works. Once it gets dark it's not hard to find, needs to be in the light for a bit.

Like I said earlier, build your arrows and nock point system around firenocks or just forget them. Nock fit is completely different with each system from every factory nock. The glow vanes weigh a little bit more, about a wrap difference.


I can't talk myself into the firenocks for the money, tried most if not all the others, one failure and what's the point of the money with the cheaper ones? I just gave up on the idea of a light in my arrow.

Yeah I ran Firenocks with my Valkyries. I pretty much swore off of them. This glow vane however looks like a great solution.

Definitely consistency with the cheaper nocks. Finding the correct size to stay in the shaft, reliable light activation. The bigger problem with those nocks is consistency of the nock themselves. They are world's apart from a Beiter. The issue with Firenocks is the cost, the complicated installation, and the continual dropping to de-activate the light. If you don't have the perfect surface you end up dropping the shaft multiple times. If you drop it on something hard the nocks start to bend. That being said that is the best option at the moment. I think I spent 400 to have 12 shafts outfitted.

I’ve never shot the Firenocks, so I don’t know what dropping the arrow does to turn them off. The videos I’ve seen on them shows a simple pull of the nock turns them off.

I’ve only used the TGB, until they stopped making them. Then started using the Nufletch Igniters. I’ve never had any issues with the Nufletch nocks working or fitment. I’m just not crazy about the weight of them.

Both had 2 holes in them that would indicate pass thrus... One I thought I saw the arrow fly out and hit some fallen tree and whizz off. I just can imagine an arrow passing through a deer and then having the velocity to go another 50 yards like a bat out of hell.

i've had an arrow pass thru a mule deer, hit a tree behind it and end up 10 feet in front of where the deer was bedded. took me a while to find it since it slid under some brush. i've also seen deflections do weird things with more energy that expected.

same in my victory arrows.... i like glory nocks better, and will keep using them until i get sick of them and get some more firenocks... they are the best, but i don't know which is a better deal when you count the cost and hassle....

in all reality, if i shoot through a critter and lose that arrow, it's money well spent to me. i was not a fan of sending a couple iron wills into the abyss of coastal brush with my recurve in 19'..... the struggle was real after using a compound again this year, i may go back to the struggle stick next year.... they say it's healthy to practice humility

..... i'll be following those iron wills with lighted nocks though, haha

The shot on the sheep was up hill and a canyon was about 100 yards behind him, so I'm pretty sure that arrow is in the canyon. But even at ~$25/arrow it's not that big of an expense to be able to put a few animals in the freezer.

Ya, but isn't the joy of bowhunting worth all that extra cost in the end? Sponsors could give me the guns and ammo and even give me a TV show, and I still would be bowhunting instead.....no matter what it costs me.

you just need to get a reel on your bow and start shooting carp. then you can take it whitetail hunting and whale rope em in.

Many of us shoot 500:1 practice vs game animals. At a cheap $1 a round that $500 spent per one game animal actually shot.

Not so much for me... Since my former SF days I use to shoot 5000+ rounds a day, many days, I don't have to shoot that many to "practice" to kill an animal at 100 yards-ish - or even 200 or 300 yards... Those are natural shots for me. Now if I plan on whacking crap at 1000 yards, yes I will tune my crap up. My practice rounds were paid for many years ago with your tax dollars - lol!

Furthermore since most game is taken at around 100-150 yards (on the east coast at least), if you need that much practice to make a 6" group at that range, I would look at either getting some shooting coaching or your gun sucks. I can pick up any rifle I own and even with off the shelf ammo shoot less than inch and half groups off hand at 100 yards.

Didn't you start a thread on not being able to find 3 deer you shot at under 100 yards? Stone cold killer you are, yes sir. Is that the same AR10/308 that you have listed up for sale right now? SF guys don't run their mouths on forums, no Special Operations guys do.
