I think what people wanting to take photo's on hunts should do is decide if your going hunting o photographing. I have a P&S I bought just to carry around running my dogs. My DSLR was simply to bulky to handle the camera and dog tools. Now I can go out and if I get a photo I want, put away the dog tools and get out the P&S camera from it's pouch on my belt. I did spend more than I wanted on the camera but it's doing what I want. Panasonic ZS 100, 25-250 Leica lens.

I know it tough to beat the mirrorless, but I love how small size and bigger zooms with camcorders. Downside is low light capabilities.
