Great choice Congrats to him.Well, my friend made his choice and decided he wants the Leupold VX-3i 3.5-10x40 that Doug has. However, he's had a couple unexpected expenses arise (argh!) and he'll have to wait until next month to make the purchase. Hoping Doug still has that deal available. If not, there'll likely be another good deal to had during the holiday season. We'll see.
Anyway, thanks to you guys for your interest and input!
We've got some excellent options in Burris, Athlon, Leupold, etc. Please give us a call to discuss what would be best for him

I understand. All mfg's have strict MAP pricing policies so it is difficult to make suggestions in a thread calling for suggestions under $300.00 when in order to be specific it would not be the same as what we can suggest on the phone where we do not need to keep to the MAP pricing. It would be nice if you would make some actual suggestions rather than just asking people to call you. I'm not trying to be disrespectful but I'd imagine that most people who click on these threads are also interested in answers.

This is why I mentioned brands but not specific models
And I have rattled the reticle out of one with a 257. Best of luck.Burris Fullfield II all day long,! Have several of these on multiple rifles and absolutely love them.
Weaver Grand Slam Tactical 3-10 SFP Mil-Dot with 0.1 MIL clicks. The scope is made is Japan and has better glass than anything i have looked through under $800. Midway and Natchez have them for just over $300 but they go on sale a lot. I bought one for $250 when it was on sale. I have it on a .224 Valkyrie AR and have shot out to 500 yards with it. Since it is SFP the reticle is big enough to shoot even on 3X magnification.
