I currently have a WM badger, and will be picking a sleeping mat soon. To provide protection for the bag against moisture, ive been looking at bivys for the last week or so. Id like to purchase a sawtooth floorless shelter at some point in the future, and although not necessary, im thinking having a lightweight bivy might be nice.

Also, having the ability to get one that is lightweight and can be used standalone (without the sawtooth) would be nice).

Can yall provide a few good, waterproof options that I should consider that are fairly lightweight and will hold a wide/long pad with a WM badger?

sounds good..anybody familiar with the military MMS sleep systems? They come in 4 parts, one of them happens to be a gortex bivy and I think its 1.5 pounds. It also comes with 2 different bags and 1 compression sack. Not sure on the total weight, but for the price range (around 100 to 150 bucks) it might be worth it for a gortex bivy to go with the ultra light bags like mine....just looking at different options.

Look forward to your findings kevin!

I use a Tigoat Raven Omni. However there are more breathable bivys (Event material) out there made by Integral Designs, Rab and Exped. Condensation can be a problem with bivys, so the more breathable the better.

I've used a large wide Bristlecone for several season. It is a good bivy of fine craftmanship. The Katabatic Gear has plenty of space and breaths about the same as any other bivy of similar specs. Sometimes I have had a little condensation. Nothing bag saturating and in those instances I probably been better off without a bivy completely.

Thanks. That's the exact size I'd be interested in. Big Agnes?

I should have details on our bivy in the next few days. It is a WPB , at about 16 ounces.

Borah has served me well at approaching 75-80 nights in it. At under a 100$, and 7.1 ounces, it's a no brainier for me.

You lost me at y'all!

Now that's 'funny! I've been in Texas for about 11 years now...before that Arkansas. Before that, 3 years in Idaho, before that 10 years in South Dakota ( I was in the military, and they move us around some, but believe it or not....that was a long stretch in one place (the time in SD). Grew up in NJ, but no interest in going back there except to visit family. I said yall over there and I wont even type what their response was...lets just say it was colorful, and WTF was mentioned numerous times in EACH sentence.
