Recoil calculation short barrel?

I’ve been using the online calculators for a while but now I’m considering 16-18” barrels I’m wondering what I fps should input?

For example a 6.5prc with a 147 is loaded with say 53 grains of powder and from a 24” barrels it would shoot 3000 fps. But let’s say you are at a 16” barrel and assume a lose of 30 fps per inch, that’s leaving the barrel at about 2760

Recoil calc says:

3000 fps, 53 grains, 147, 9.5lbs = 16.6lbs of recoil

2760 fps, 53 grains, 147, 9.5lb rifle = 15.0

Not a big difference but which would be accurate?

I would bet your recoil calculator is correct, but that might not be what you feel. I’m wondering if they would feel nearly the same for two reasons.
1. The sharpness or snapiness of the recoil velocity of the rifle might be the same since the bullet was accelerated the same amount. One just had a longer distance to accelerate than the other.
2. If you considered the weight of the barrel it might offset the additional recoil.
