I always made a fist under the stock as necessary to shoot off bipods. Guy I know carries a bean bag - squeezes it if needing to make it taller.

Essentially, see what jr. likes to use and shoots well with.

I like the Rugged Ridge "Extreme Rear Support System" but have not used all that are recommended, I use it and a Spartan Bipod. Both can be carried on a belt, in a pocket or on my pack and are both light weight and easy to use.
