My 2018 Ram 2500 shortbed crew with 35” tires gets 17-18 mpg average. I’ve only got 5,000 miles on it so far. My wife mostly drives this truck and she gets worse mileage than me :D

My 2003 GMC 2500 Duramax gets 17-19 mpg when not towing. I have over 300,000 miles and truck is still going strong.

1991 toyota sr5 pickup V6 3.0. 315k miles.

Summer time, highways around here I am getting 21-24. Filled up today before heading back to the work center and calculated mpg at 23. Did a trip to Missoula a few weeks ago and averaged 22. Averaging 18-20 when messing around up here in the woods.

Winter, usually get 15-19 miles per gallon.

2017 Titan XD, stock suspension, 275/70-18 Nitto Ridge Grapplers and Method wheels. AFE Scorcher module, and a tonneau cover. Have found that with this setup, my computer reads +\- 0.2 mpg from actual.

18-20 on the highway at 75-80 (Texas) depending on how aggressive I’m accelerating to pass other cars, wind directions, etc. Just averaged 20.5 mpg on a 560 mile trip coming home from northeast New Mexico.

20+ if doing 65-70, but that doesn’t happen much.

In town, getting around 15.5-16. Can better this slightly by taking a slightly longer route to work and using the “Loop”, and make it worse by accelerating quickly, I end up usually take the route with stoplights for some reason.

My 1996 Toyota T100 SR5 gets 21-22 on the highway. I'm hoping Toyota release a new Tundra this century…I'm ready for an upgrade!

Depends on how much you drive. They actually have a current rebate for ecodiesels which essentially is paying back the cost of the upgrade (due to the emission stuff). If you go the ecodiesel route, I would suggest either getting one with the GDE tune or if it's new, factor that cost into the purchase price.

I am way ahead on fuel costs compared to my last truck. The extra maintenance for the diesel is no big deal. Def fill up twice a year, fuel filter every 20k or so, oil changes are $60 or so every 10k.

The new one should be out hopefully late this year. I will be waiting until GDE gets their tune ready before purchasing.

I had this truck with a 360 and couldn't afford to drive it.....even for just
a hunting truck. Had to sell it.

2009 Chevy 2500hd 6.0 gas factory stock except for wheels. 15-16 on freeway if I keep it at 75 or below. I usually drive 84 on the freeway so I get about 13-14.

Had the same consideration when I bought my 15'. Ran the the numbers and the payback period to recoup the extra upfront cost at that time was pretty long. Easily over 100k miles. I wasn't as confident in the reliability of the diesel and while that little diesel was surprisingly peppy for what it is it wasn't nearly as satisfying as the hemi if you needed/wanted to step on it. Needless to say I went with the hemi. I only have about 60k miles on it (zero issues) so time will tell as far as reliability but I haven't regretted not getting the diesel 1 second. I'd test drive both and run the numbers with the prices you are able to get them for if you are on the fence but ultimately I would go with whichever brings the biggest smile to your face.

Thank you guy's for the info I will look at both options but that extra milage you get with a diesel sounds really good.
