Kimber lists the weight at 5# 10 oz (realize this could vary a little based on caliber choice) but all the internet sale sites are showing "only 6.5 lbs"- I'd like to think the Kimber site is correct? If so these sites are doing a real disservice for Kimber.

Thanks in advance

I just read a review where the author stated his in .308 weighed 5# 3 oz- that's very encouraging if accurate

I called around this afternoon and one of the local shops had a .280 AI on the shelf; they'll probably think I'm off my rocker, but I have a small digital scale (battery operated) that I'm going to bring :D

Thanks so much Gents! I was sure hoping that Kimber was right and all the online retailers were wrong :)

How have these been shooting for you guys? I saw one at a couple different stores and immediately was interested. Just haven't seen a lot by way of reviews after being broke in etc.
How is the bedding block?
Been looking at these and tikkas so definitely curious.

What chambering are you looking at?
I've been looking at the 6.5 but tikka only offers the 6.5CM in the CTR (as far as I know) which is on the more tactical side and weighs a bit more than other tikka variants so I've been back to .06 in a lite or maybe even the fluted super lite.

I was originally looking at a .257, but I hadn't ruled out the 6.5.

Listen to this :) I was perusing a classified section on another site and opened up a thread titled "WTB a lightweight rifle"- not sure why I even clicked on it, several folks posted up different rifles they were willing to sell- one being a Hunter in 6.5- I pm'd that individual noticing that he too was from Montana to see if he had sold the rifle and if not if he was still interested in selling it. Got a message back he was only 30 miles away and hand't sold the rifle and included his phone number. Gave the guy a call and low and behold it's an old buddy I hadn't seen in 30 years!!!!! We're meeting up tomorrow some time and I should be in possession of Hunter in 6.5 :D What are the odds?

Small world they say! Hopefully a good re connection. 6.5 looks solid. Let me know how it performs.
What optic are you going to be mounting?

I couldn't resist so I snagged one in 6.5 creedmoor a few weeks ago. It shoots the Hornady Precision Hunter 143gr ELDX rounds pretty darn well. With a 3-9x40 Nikon Prostaff it pulls 6.51 lbs on my OMP bow scale (not a precision scale for this sort of thing but close enough for me) in the hands however, it feels much more than ~half a pound lighter than my Tikka T3 Superlite 30-06 (with the same scope it comes in at 7.1 lbs with DNZ one piece rings.

The accuracy is there for sure but both these light rifles have taken a lot of practice to tighten up the group's.

Definitely small world! :) I'm batting around optic options- leaning hard towards the VX-2 Lightweight in 3-9 for it's sheer lightness, but also haven't ruled out the VX-3i 3.5-10 and even the Swaro Z3 3x9 (the price tag hurts though)

Looking forward to getting it to the range. Both Nosler and Barnes have some nice choices in bonded bullets. I concur, my Featherweight is definitely tougher to group than some of the heavier rifles I've owned.

it's mine :)

I think Kimber was being on the safe side at 5# 10 oz, it's possible the .243 is close to that, everything else is going to be much closer to 5# 8 oz; not sure where the 6.5# figure bantered around came from, but clearly bad information- when they say approximately 5.5 lbs, Kimber is spot on

mine (6.5) weighs 5 lbs 8.9 oz - pretty svelte

I think this thread is focused on Kimbers - As far as I know Tikka hasn't stepped into the 6.5 CM but they've done the .260 Rem in a few models, just not the superlight ...... yet I hope

Tikka does have a 6.5CM in their CTR rifle, otherwise the 6.5s they offer are in a 6.5x55.

mtwarden, good deal!

How does the stock feel on it? Is it cheap plastic or composite feeling? Be cool if you could weigh the stock alone.

My impressions where that it felt pretty solid. Definitely not like a lot of production Sporter rifle stocks.
I'm anxious to hear how the bedding looks as well.

I am pretty happy with the stock on the Hunter. I don't think it feels cheap at all. But I am also a fan of the T3 Tupperware stocks so keep that in mind :) ....they just work for me.

I am probably going to tear down my Kimber before to long to swap scopes and fiddle with action torque so if I remember, I will weigh the stock by itself.
