Real life scams , whats the best you've seen ?

Bank called me the other day, seriously. Said they noticed suspicious activity in sc. I live in va. But I was just in a foreign country for a resort style vacation. They asked if I spent xxxx amount at Best Buy in sc. I told them no, they said there are two transactions one for 4.00 and one for 1500. I said nope. He said awesome, we wanna catch thee fraudsters. Can you log into your account and tell me how much is in there so we can make sure we’re both looking at the same thing. Then I look at the number and it’s a Vermont area code not a 1800 number although Vermont is 1802. I said I can’t access it at the moment. He said I’m gonna text you a link to click and then I need you to log on, the link ended with some odd shit and I said my phones dying, call me back in 5. He said sir, we don’t have time yiur account is being compromised.

I hung up and called my bank they said nope, it’s a scam. The dude didn’t stop calling for like 30 min.

Ironically enough I left the house right after and went to gas station and a white van pulled up and asked if I wanted to buy and home entertainment systems hahahahaah. I was like na pimp! People still use that shit?

I was taken once... SMH. Was in the market for a new to me skid steer for some large home projects. I was on vacation in FL and was browsing FB marketplace and seen one not to far from my home at a decent price. Messaged the fella and told him the situation, I was on vaca and would be home in a week. He said to call him, so he gave me his #. I spoke with the dude, he talked like he knew his shit about it, gave me his address and set up a meeting time for when I got back, but he wanted some money to hold it. I figured, since I spoke to the dude (spoke english) had his # and his address it wasnt a scam. He wanted $500, but I only sent $100. He got mad and marked the listing as back available, ghosted me and blocked me. So I called from my wifes phone and daughters phone. He continued to BS me that since I shorted him he was keeping the $100 for wasting his time. So I chocked it up to a $100 donation to shit bag. However, I did spend the remainder of the vacation signing him up for multiple porn, free marketing, telemarketing, any and everything I could manage to with his name, number and address. Im sure he had to change his number by the end of it! ;)

During the recession back in 2012, my wife decided she wanted to move into another house. We put our house up for sale with a realtor friend. Soon after, I saw a strange person drive up and was looking in the windows. I went to the door and asked what in the hell he was doing. Said he was there to look at the house for rent. I told him it wasn’t for rent but he showed me an ad on Craigslist that showed my address, with a deposit amount and a monthly rental that was well below market rate. Obviously a scam. I broke the news to him but wasn’t really sure what to do with the info he gave me. The next day several more families showed up to look at the house and send the guy a deposit. One of them gave me the scammers info and phone number, which I turned the info over to the FBI. Nobody else came around and I don’t know if they caught him.
Similar situation happened to a friend of mine in town for a summer internship except the residents of the apartment listed were actually out of town for months at a time. The scammers got unlucky because while my friend is not also a scammer, he’s a little tricky/crazy. My friend moves in and for some reason didn’t immediately pay rent and the security deposit. He realizes the scammer is acting a bit strange, not at all like a landlord who didn’t receive money on time, so he just keeps living there and not paying and eventually figured out the scam including the home address and real name of the scammer. Ended up living there all summer rent free.

Scammers getting scammed by scammers, what a turn of events!

That's a real thing though. I have a buddy who's my age, mid 40s. He uses some app and hooks up with all sorts of single mothers like a few every week. Some of them are pretty hot.

personally, Im married and id absolutely never entertain a single mother but my buddy sure has a good time with it. he even said the majority of the women want absolutely nothing to do with him afterwords, they just thank him and leave. He did say though that a lot of them have ozempic vagina.
Can you send me the name of that website? Ya know, for a friend

I mean Dog got you to respond to his post with obvious gramatical errors........
I don't "Do" "Errors" bud.

Furthermore... You'd do well to keep someone else's name out of your mouth if you're going to elect to speak negatively about them.

And P.S. the word is "grammatical". Fkr

I paid off my house a few years ago. A great moment!

Then the tax bill came, and I realized I don’t really own the home, I just rent it from the government.
I just bought a parcel with powerline, gulley, swamp, and big creek next to land I already owned for $1k an acre. Only good for hunting except maybe .5 acre of 25 acres you could build on. Sits amongst to 240 acres of County land with no hunting allowed.
County just sent a reappraisal at $9k an acre.
My Appeal and then request for hearing to follow.

Selling something on Craigslist, I got a call from say they wanted it and would send their son to pick it up but he didn’t have any cash with him so they would send me the money PayPal and ask for my email which I gave them. They called back shortly saying there was an error and that they sent the money but got an email that I couldn’t receive it because I didn’t have a PayPal business account which is what they were was using and asked if I had been notified of anything or got the money. I didn’t have anything show up on PayPal but got an email say the same thing they had said with a help line number to call. I called and they said that business accounts can’t send less than $400 . I then got a call from the prospective buyer saying he would send their son difference to make up the $400 and I could send him the surplus. I said fine he then called again shortly saying he sent the money but I need to send him the surplus amount and then I would get the $400 total. I figured it out then but he wasted 20 minutes of my time
