I'm looking to pick up a lighter weight scope in the mid-power range. Both of these scope look like they'd fit the bill nicely. My only concern between them is that only the center dot or crosshair is illuminated. If needing the illumination, I'm thinking the razor would be tough if having to hold for some wind. With the Zeiss you can still dial for the wind. But, I'm also hoping to hear any experience on the repeatability/reliability of the turrets and quality of glass between the two. Thanks for any input.

Have both and shoot both to extended ranges often. I’d have a tough time picking a favorite as they stack up so well against each other in the lightweight long range capable category. Both (talking 3-15 & 4-16) are light but Razor has slight edge and is shorter. Glass is about the same to my eye but I don’t put much stock in glass quality. Razor has illumination where the 4-16 V4 does not. I prefer the reticle in the Razor as I feel the center dot allows me more precision at long range, but that’s just me. Both zero stops are simple to set but LHT allows 5 clicks below zero which I don’t necessarily dig. Turrets on each are fine with the Razor being a bit more crisp, Razor also has a locking turret if that’s your thing. My LHT and multiple V4’s have tracked perfectly, held zero under recoil and rtz every time...if they even hiccup in this area they are worthless to me and go bye bye quickly. Wish I had a more definitive answer for you but can’t decide myself.

The new V4 V4 does have illumination and exposed windage turret. I'm just not sure they're out yet. Here's a link

Thanks for all the info. That helps a ton.
My error, was unaware there was a “new” V4. Just skimmed the thread but not a fan of wide exposed windage knob and hope there is still an option with low profile cap. That’s one of the attributes of the current model is it is slim and sleek imo. Thanks for the info.

I am still surprised that people compare vortex to zeiss! I guess I am living in a bubble but I always thought vortex was just a "walmart" brand for once a year hunters! Do they actually make a decent high end optic?

Anything that’s the “Razor” line is pretty dang good glass. Not the very best but plenty good for most. The Zeiss V4 is more of their almost mid level glass so it’s not the top end Zeiss like you’re probably thinking. It’s still pretty dang good as well. Just not top tier. I ordered a LHT a couple days ago for my light weight build, we’ll see how it does... I was happy with my 6-24x50 V4 on one of my guns.

The Razor is a solid line.

Im looking at the same scopes as well but also thinking a Sig Saur Wisky 5 3-15x44. I want this scope for a coyote gun and will be hunting at night. Im concerned with the razor not having diff illumination levels and it being to bright

It has 10 brightness levels. Guess I haven’t tested it in pitch darkness but the lowest level is a perfect low glow with no flare at last legal light in dark timber.

I have a Whiskey5 3-15 on my 6.5PRC now. It's a sweet scope. Just a little heavy for that rifle. The Whiskey5 will go on my 300WM.

I Had a v4 4-16, I wanted to like it, it checked a lot of boxes for me but I just couldn’t settle on it. It did have a nice zero stop but it didn’t return to zero very well.

The Razor line is solid, I shoot at a fairly high level in 3gun competition and the Vortex is the most used scope by a large margin.
