Rattlesnake

. I've shot a few dozen probably over the years and it usually went the same way, completely limp snake, cut head off with my pocket knife and then 5 minutes later they start squirming all over.

Is it with the same Walmart special knife you use on everything else and as a handful of other tools?

I have one, mine is just the black version, but use it the same way.

I also never realized snake bites can be "dry", I always figured if you got bit by a venomous snake, it was a venomous bite and to get to the hospital ASAP. The fun things you learn on Rokslide.

lol it's turn is coming soon I'm sure because that's all I carry now, but hopefully later rather than sooner. I did cut a mower tire off the rim with it, guess I should update that thread lol.

The dry bites are interesting. Some say the snake decides whether to inject or not but it may also be a timing issue as well or maybe they just bit something else and need to recharge? They definitely happen though.

14 with one 12 gauge shot. Just barely got her before she gave birth. She was a frequent flyer scaring the crap outta me at a gate we use all the time. I finally got her and was dang glad I did!

That's a baby sidewinder. Kind of rare to find, but it is interesting watching them slither sideways like that. They save a lot of energy doing that.

My favorite weapon was a driver (golf club) that the head snapped off. Quick, and I could pull the snake back when they tried to escape before I hit them. I don’t remember how many I killed with that thing. A shovel is alright, but in rocky terrain the head can be difficult if the snake was between rocks, and they are a bit unwieldy.

And yet a 20ga is better in every way!!!!!!

That sure is a bright, good looking little critter. Years ago I found a road killed Great Basin rattler down in Alvord desert that was alkali blue. It was the prettiest snake I’ve ever seen, and it was fresh but it was tore up too bad to salvage the skin.

Yeah, F snakes. Thankfully there are few venomous snakes where I live and fortunately for them I don’t care to kill them anymore unless there are kids around.
