Done one of these before with my .223 Rem bolt gun. Was about to mount an upgraded optic onto my .308 Win bolt gun.

When I removed the self adhering camo wrap tape I'd had on it I was surprised at how much dust and dirt had stained into the wrap, no doubt from my sweat.

Figure that has to harbor a ton of human scent. So since I had to remove the scope bases anyway, figure do another quick camo job on it next couple days before mount the new optic, that way no more camo wrap to fuss with.

Stretch elastic camo netting from halloween store makes an excellent looking completely random pattern within your stripes. And you can pull and stretch the netting to morph the shape of the pattern too.

Next up a little sponge dabbing, then clearcoat.

Not gonna do the optic yet since it's new and untested yet.

Cool man. I've done Krylon camo jobs on guns, scopes, paintball guns, etc, holds up far better than you'd think.

This one "grey" color ended up being too bright for my taste, so had to work to cover it a lil and tone it down.

A lil "busy" to a small degree, but should work well.

Looks good to me. I did a similar pattern on my Benelli using folded onion sacks. I've found that a base coat of flat black seems to tone down some of the brightness that you get with the tan and grey paints.

When you set it against Kryptek, it's money! I added a lil more green into this one just because my FDE type under color I was running out of after doing the stock, so opted to utilize that drab green shade as the base color for the barrel, and sorta tied it in to the stock with doing bits of sponge dabbing onto the stock with some of the lighter green shade, and bits of green mixed with this ashy grey I had. That grey by itself was too white/bright looking for my eye/taste. Thought it stuck out too much on its own. But worked well in on-the-fly mixing of colors to lighten up some of the dark brown I had on hand to create an in-between variance I could dither into some in-between edges of light to dark.

Makes a fun winter project did a Rem. .270 SPS several years ago. A lot of clear coat really helps the durability.
