I practiced all summer out to 500 yards, Barnes Trophy Copper 180 in 300 WSM.
141 yards, leaning against and supported by a boulder, halfway between prone and sitting. He was walking away and when he finally quartered enough for a shot, I fired. Traversed his body from right rear to left front shoulder, actually recovered the bullet, a first for me. Second shot was in the neck, he was dead before he hit the ground. Tumbled about 5 yards behind some boulders at the top of a small drainage, I had a nervous 30 minute wait for recovery.
37 yards with my bow with the angle cut on a steep downhill angle. He was quartered away and I got a single lung with my arrow. Luckily he only went 200yard before he crashed and tumbled down the rock face.
