Goat shot.jpg

My only goat experience, but this billy sucked up three 180gr .300WM bullets from 430-460yds from prone over a backpack and a drybag as my rearbag. The finger in the photo above is pointing to our shooting position. Taking my GF for her first goat hunt this August and she'll be toting (more like me) a 7x57mm shooting 139gr handloads and I've got no reservations, but then again I'm by no means an experienced goat hunter. Addicted? Well, that's a different question ;)

156 yards prone off a pack. Rolled about 20 yards and stopped itself on a rock. A second shot anchored it in place.19980C5A-A666-46A5-B1CE-3CD05526EA69.jpeg

Sorta feel bad, but although I was packing a .300 Win Mag, we popped right up on him and shot was maybe 75 yards.

thats impossible. I read here on rokslide that you can’t kill anything with blued/wood guns and leupold scopes. Also we know it’s a fake picture because you aren’t wearing a thousand dollars of camo.

LOL, it took some dedication and effort, but I got er done. The rifle was my uncles when he was a kid, it was chambered in a 243 Win. The barrel was burned out and he had it re-barreled to a 260 Remington about 15 years ago. When I showed my uncle a picture of the old billy with the rifle, he said, "are you sure he's dead, some say you need a magnum to kill him magnum dead."

366 yards with a 6.5 PRC off of a backpack.
The scope was a Nightforce NX8. Great scope for a rough hunt. Shooting a factory hornady 147 ELD-M.
