Range Finder Binos that do ballistic drop in inches

Most I would possibly be comfortable doing this way would be something like

1. 200 yard zero
2. No more than 8 inches of drop between 200 and 300
3. 300 hold on top of their back

To do that you dont need ballistics in binos and anything further you are much better off dialing. $3k is a lot for AB binos to give fudd info.
Agreed. All I need is the range. I’m comfortable to 300 on 12-15” chests, to 350 - 400 on 18” chests and 400-425 for elk. Range is all I need. Past those limits I range and dial, so range is all I need to 600 for drop.

Assuming an elk is 26-30” from top of shoulder to bottom of belly behind the front leg, and my bullet drops 25” at 400 yards, this is not a hard shot. The margin of error is easily 8” each way. It does get harder the smaller the animal, but a deer is still realistic. What got real hard back in the day was Kentucky windage on coyotes at 400 plus!

And yes, we all used to use Kentucky windage back in the day. You’re not the only one that shot prior to exposed turrets. 😂

Also, a 4 moa shooter at 300 yards? If that’s the case they shouldn’t be using a dial turret prone, with a bipod and rear bag.
Every shot is “not a hard shot” on the internet lol.

I’d bet money, if you were ever measured, you would be 3-4 MOA shooter in the mountains.

This, is realistic. While not ideal, at least realistic 👍🏻

I love how hard guys try to make it seem.

Maybe with a muzzle loader. 😂
Sometimes after reading how hard long range shooting is on here I think, I must be "Him." It's never been much of a struggle for me, but I have seen multiple buddies fall to pieces on elk hunts. I also do not shoot from too many "field positions" at long range. I would say 90% of my animals over 300 yards have been prone, either off a pack or bipod with something for a rear rest. I kill more than a lot of guys, so I am not usually in the mode of hurry, hurry, hurry, make the shot, or you won't get another. At long range, you generally have plenty of time. Maybe you are "Him" too.

Come shoot sometime and let’s see 👍🏻

Maybe some time. I don't do anywhere near the shooting you guys do. Just enough to stay proficient and kill shit. I don't shoot kneeling, I only shoot off hand at close range. Really, it's prone or seated behind a tripod or bipod at long range. The occasional tripod shot, but they really aren't my favorite. If I feel rushed and it doesn't feel right, I won't shoot. If I miss out on an opportunity, no big deal. There will likely be more.

You’re absolutely right. Shoot off hand at 500 and we’re all 5 moa shooters. I find advantageous shooting positions or I don’t shoot. I like prone with my pack or a rear bag.

Kneeling is pretty gay haha.

Would be a fun time. We will do another shoot this winter or early spring in AZ open to all RS members like last year. Hope you can make it 👍🏻

The el range’s have an option for inches of drop as an option in their app, when syncing the binos via Bluetooth, don’t they?

What are you talking about?
Hiding behind the keyboard every time anyone has asked you to prove your bold claims on Rokslide.

You even won a free shoot2hunt course and are too scared to go. You had a free open invitation before that as well, to show everyone how amazing you are.

Actions. They speak way louder than typed up words on the internet, is what I’m talking about.

Here’s one more that you won’t show up to. Come shoot using inches of holdover and a duplex reticle on an elk silhouette target, and get a first round vitals hit at 400 yards on the mountain and I’ll give you a special prize. You’re gonna love it. Come to the Rokslide shoot here in AZ. We will be testing this with likely 20+ shooters. You can teach us all how to be a great as you.

To be fair, not everyone wants to burn their vacation time to go to a class.

Not saying things can't be learned from it, but it can be hard enough to balance hunts against family time.

And I don't know if he's one to be particularly opened with open arms in the situation.

Just to be fair about it. I don't know if its worth throwing in his face.
He's counter to a lot of Rokslide, but show me where a 300NM doesn't make wind calls easy.

I don't know why people not showing up is a nix, I have had a lot of open invites for people to come shoot, I don't hold it against them when they don't.

Y'all just both spend a lot of time talking past each other.

I agree with this.

He’d be welcomed in our shoots just like anyone else. Everyone gets so worked up over internet words, in real life everyone has always got along great.

300 Norma is point and click baby. All day every day.

They likely aren’t making bold and loud claims on Rokslide. Or am I wrong there?
Y'all just both spend a lot of time talking past each other.
I like going out and doing the things I talk about on Rokslide and trying new things and learning. He comes to threads like these constantly with troll like posts, gets called out by people who’ve actually done what he claims in real life, rinse repeat.

What are your thoughts on holding inches or are you not here for that?

I think if you can't hold inches inside 400 yards without dialing you are missing out.

Hunting rutting deer, we hafta shoot quick.

I'm comfortable with most the firearms I take hunting to shoot 400 without dialing.

I think thats what the OP was asking right?

So you’re doing this and practicing it enough regularly then right? What is your hit rate on vital sized targets at 400 yards?

Yeah he’s asking for a ballistics solution in inches of drop and wants to shoot to 400 yards. You’ll notice most advising against this, and a few saying “it’s easy”.

Essentially you are saying that having a 300 yard 0 and holding for a 400 yard shot is hard on an elk? It doesnt sound hard to me 🤷‍♂️. My "shooting season" will begin after January hunts are over. I'll do it and report back.

OP said he zeroes at 200 yards and shoots a 7 Mag and had never practiced a shot using hold over at 400 yards.
