17 months? I would consider yourself lucky. 1 more month and you would have be replacing a quarter panel on it.

Base camp is 12,800. I have sumitted mt. Whitney@14,505.

Ok. You missed the point completely.

Summiting high peaks is only of interest to folks who don’t live in their shadows (flat landers). Folks who live among them know there’s nothing of interest up there but a view.

The 68RFE transmission is 100% junk. I have had nothing but issues with them over the years...but I keep buying those damn Rams/Cummins. Majority of the transmission issues come from the celinoid pack and/or valve body.

Interesting. I’ve run a fleet of them since they were 48REs. Only ever had issues with one 48RE and one 68RE over several million combined miles. Both were “runner” trucks that were empty most of their lives. The others all towed for a living and none were sold before 250k miles. Only issues were DEF systems and turbo’s. No working trucks had transmission issues.

Man, I wish I could say the same. Currently on my 3rd 48RE (and starting to have issues), 2003 HO Cummins with just under 300k miles.

What about the new Tundra's with that turbo 6, anyone heard of any issues with them?

There were a few issues with the 2022 models but people claim the 2023s have them fixed. I’ll be getting a 2024 in the next few months so I’ll be happy to update if mine blows up. 🥲

the ecodiesal uses the same bosch cp4 fuel pump that the 6.7 powerstroke uses from 2011 to current, 2011 to 2016 duramax used it then ditched it for a denso thats supposed to be more reliable, cummins used it on the 6.7 for a year or 2 around 2020 not sure on the exact year, they went back to the cp3 due to issues. The cp4 pump is not tolerable to water in fuel or bad fuel. Good fuel treatment with lube ever tank would be highly recomended.

first gen ecodiesals had there issues, my brother but 420,000 km on one(deleted) till it snapped the crank. that truck did alot of heavy towing. There issues are well documented as is making them last.
The 6.7 Cummins had the junk CP4 in 19 and 20 models and went back to the CP3 in 2021.

AK Troutbum...I have 109,000 on my 2003 HO w/ cummins......no issues and I pull a B-26 Kubota backhoe and Kubota SSV65 skidsteer on a trailer regularly. What tranny issues did you have? Yes, I hear the tranny is the weak link, but it pulls just awesome on just 305hp and 555ftlb/torque.

You ready to sell that thing?

I have 435k on my 1999 24valve. Replaced the transmission at 160k.

Sweet! You can be just like me when my New Ram 2500 took a crap a week before my Trip.....

A Jeep compass was what I was given as a rental.

I centerpunched a Redfox in Nebraska going about 85 MPH with that thing. Can't believe it didn't break anything.

There is a silver lining though. We killed a couple deer on that trip.

I can vouch for the horrible mileage of my tundra, but I also never had a problem with 6.7 Cummins in 120k, the transmission is a different story….
I'm lucky and found a 6.7 with the g56 super low miles. Been super reliable and great for me. Those dodge automatic transmissions tend to be a timebomb depending on the year. Gotta be easy on the skinny pedal
