It was last week of July a few summer back. Got me very stoked for hunting season which opens August. 1 in the Yukon! Great place to go for a new hunter to practice looking at sheep. So many to compare you can learn a lot in a short time.

I sure enjoy glassing our sheep mountain here in South Central AK but rams are found in normal numbers there (1-6 in a group) not entire flocks of 30!! Kind of sad in a way to think that Kluane butts up to Wrangle St Elias Nat Park. Most of WSE is super remote and untouched with some true hawg rams. Off limits to hunting by the Federal Govt and the few good preserve areas that are "open" you can't actually book a flight into as the guides in the area are firmly intrenched with the air taxi operators.

Kluane National park is also off limits to hunting exception to the first Nations. There is a draw for 1 tag a year into the Kluane Wildlife Preserve which boarders the north side of the park for a Yukon resident and 1 that gets auctioned off by the first nations band. This is a dream of mine to hunt there as some big rams have come out of there.

Thats too bad about the limited access. Might have to dream big and get your own super cub! (another dream of mine...) I drove into Kennicott mine one year and was super impressed with the country. Alaska is a pretty incredible place.

Not live, and I believe I've posted it in the past, but it's worth another look! Stone's Sheep killed by a friend in the '50s. Never been scored, never been published about. I also have pics of two of his Dall Sheep that are monsters too.
