Ram 2500 Tire Chains

Here's something to consider.
The only two times I've almost run off a slippery snowy mountain road was when
I tried going uphill in 4WD without chaining and didn't make it.
Figured it was worth a try. Going to back down and chain up and the F***ing
ABS kicks in and bop-bop-bop-bop-bop-bop and I'm gaining speed right quick.
Luckily it was a straight shot to the level.

Now when it's at all sketchy I pull the fuse to the ABS. Works like it should, the
light just comes on. If I could figure out how to shut off the light I'd leave the
fuse out all the time.
Would love 5 minutes with the guy who made ABD mandatory.
I can shut off my traction control and it doesn't give me any problems.

Traction control has gotten me stuck more than its prevented me from sliding off the road. Its happened enough that every time I put 4wd on, I turn off traction control and the other ABS system.

Thanks for that link
If you order some play around with what’s in your cart to get better shipping prices. I just checked and a set of chains is crazy expensive but if you add in the bungee adjusters it’s gets reasonable went from something like $150 to $30 for my address.
It’s silly and maybe calling will get a better shipping price. A few years ago I was told that’s just how it is so I ordered the cheapest thing I could add to the cart with chains to get the best shipping prices.

WTF.. hahahaha thanks for the tip. A lot of money for chains. Those are beefy chains too. I can't see going over 10mph in those

If you have a Ram, check out Abel Components. He makes a bypass switch for ABS. Same as pulling the fuse, just more convenient.

So far good advise. Ill 2nd, 3rd? Of get chains one can rebuild, including having the chain tool.

Make sure you carry links, and extra crossovers, a couple cams aswell.

If you're not comfortable, chain up, you do not want to chain up after you allowed your ego to control your decision.

Make sure you have parts, and once something breaks, if you can fix it, fix it. Its all fun and games until you have a crossover break, and instead of fixing it, you say yolo and now you get to change a tire due to it being stabbed into the tire. Ask me how I know.

Carry extra bungees, even with spider bungees, if you cant get the chains tight. Use bungees too. Keep your chains tight, you'll break something.

I second buying used truck chains and making them your own size, call up your local road department, see if they have any bad chains you can cut down.

Oh, have all parts you may need for breaking chains. Think of everything, and make sure you have the stuff. Even if you dont use it, it's a piece of mind. Especially if you've never used chains.

Watch some videos of how to get unstuck with chains, or how to get them on when you're in a bad situation.

And when you're cussing yourself out, the trip, the truck when you get stuck, just be grateful your not at home wishing you were in the mountains.
