Great review. Wasn't really looking for new rain gear, but now the FL has caught my eye. Thanks.

This past CO archery season would have been a good time to put some of these to the test in real field experiences. It must have dumped close to 15" of rain where I was hunting over a two week period. Eventually, since I was staying in my base camp, I just went without the rain gear and changed out my clothes every day. Wasn't too bad, but wouldn't want to try that with a backcountry camp setup.

Really well done! Great information. I was a little surprised not to see the weight of each jacket in the summary chart. Did I overlook something?

Great review. Wish C4E made the final cut for comparisons sake but I understand how hard logistics would be to put together as many jackets that were already tested. Results are on point with how I thought it would finish.

Good review! Looks like a lot of hard work went into it.

Looks like you need to do a review on the big boys now, The Yukon, Stormfront, Koldo.

I agree, it could have taken the place of the mont bell, not sure why that jacket was in this test....

The First Lite rain jacket impressed me very much on our Sitka Blacktail hunt. I wore it every single day, all day... It rained (both drizzle and downpour), got foggy, it snowed and was basically wet the entire time. Not once did my clothes under the jacket get wet or even damp... It's a great piece of gear for sure! I really hope they make a pair of pants to go with it!

I appreciate the review. Owning the Precip I agree completely with your findings on it as a good budget option. Of course now I am looking to upgrade

I did the Mont Bell because it looked good on paper, I really wanted it to be good. I ordered it blind. Its a super light jacket, for the guy who packs a jacket and rarely ever uses it its a good option. Just not a durable heavy use jacket. If anybody is the market for one..... :)

Was that jacket even available when he did the review?
Which jacket are you referring to? C4E? Would have like to have done that jacket, but just never got it all lined up.

Ya, if they'll make them in a real Tall. I haven't found a pair of technical pants or expensive rain pants that go long enough. I'm 6'6" with long legs. 35's are too short.

Actually, I don't use my rain pants much. I can gaiter up if the ground cover is wet, and that's mostly when I've used the pants.
