Rain gear for CO early rifle

There's no straight answer to this question. You have to look at the weather, consider you location, how long you will be out, and what your tolerance for risk is. Chugach or dewpoint would be perfect, go with which one you can get the cheapest.

Above treeline in October, it should not be raining. Being prepared for wet and letting snow would certainly be something to keep in mind, but you don’t necessarily need to the most waterproof rain gear out there either since its primarily going to be a wind jacket. Like others have said, I’d ditch the rain pants entirely but do have good gaiters.

I just run the Cabelas Space jacket/pants. Generally it’s dry here but its nice to have along if weather patterns change. Those weather patterns could be rain or a pile up of snow.
