I really like the sound of that. Are you able to layer with the same "size" gloves?

I've used a ton of gloves trying to figure out what works. I work on a ranch and we move cows in the winter from place to place so I spend a lot of time fairly stationary in cold weather for long periods of time.

The best cheap solution I have found is Aleyeskan rag wool gloves over a high quality liner glove. Something that wicks the moisture out into the wool. They give decent dexterity and are reasonably warm.

The best synthetic glove I've tried as a liner is the Kuiu Peloton 200. It blocks wind better than the Sitka Gradient I used before. It dries pretty well too.

The outer layer I spent the money for and use when dexterity is less important than warmth is the Kuiu down mittens. I have never had cold hands with them and have used them in 3hr rain storms in the lower 48. I have not used them in conditions where I had multiple days of rain, they got to dry out in the house after the one day of rain each time so I can't rate them on that. On my AK trip I never had to break them out, I kept them in reserve in case it got cold enough to need a warm dry layer and with record highs they weren't needed.

Yes same size gloves, also wore them over my peloton 200’s with no issues.

Thanks for all the input guys. Honestly thought I was crazy that I was more comfortable in wools gloves. So did some experimenting recently while hunting. Bought the vortex chopper mitt from REI. Last weekend is was in the mid 30’s windy and rainy. I was stand hunting for whitetail, not active hunting. Decent test.

I took my Sitka merino glove liners and that really worked well. I used the fox river fingerless and that worked well too, if my fingers touched the mitt it was cold but hovering in the middle plenty warm. rjf611, funny you posted your system cause it was a natural progression to put the fingerless gloves over the merino liner which is nice and warm and inside the gortex she’ll was warm and roomy. I’d dare say I could take to pretty cold conditions. I also used my wool with 40 gram thinsulate - also very warm but fills the mitt and a little more constricting the the two thin gloves. I also have the sika synthetic glove with the open index finger and thumb - one of the few non wool gloves I like and that was a good combo too.

Only complaint with the rei shell is the opening is pretty small and need tabs sewn on to pull the mitt over. They are so light they may just permanently ride in my pack and just change which wool glove I’ll take.

Also, thanks for posting the link to the fix river full finger gripper was having hard time finding them I think those are worth having too.
