Looking to upgrade my bag. I've been in a MH phantom 32 for 12 years (ya, brutal) and I'd like to upgrade a bag that will last me another 15 without freezing my ass off for the last 5 of those!

WM has a cult of a following -- I compare it to Swaro. The Apache has the Gore Wind Stopper for water repellancy and the RAB has Pertex Endurance.

The RAB however, is $200 cheaper and about a pound lighter.

Anyone care to chime in?

Not familiar with the sleeping bag but have a Rab puffy (neutrino endurance ) with pertex and love it. Seems durable and fairly water resistant. The bag appears to be around a 25 degree rating. I like to have a bit more than that personally. Also some of the "euro" bags are euro sized to cut weight. Something to consider depending on your size.

I have the Apache MF and i love it. It is a tight cut but very warm. Weight is only 33 ozs. The Apache GWS weighs 38 ozs if you want the extra weather protection.

I like Rab gear but I would go WM for sure. The rab weighs 32 ozs so not a pound lighter. Also the rab is smaller and not as warm.

Thank you for the response!

Jimbob, how many years have you had your apache? I've heard of guys using these things for up to 20 years if properly cared for...

the WM Kodiak is cut wider, love mine.........one thing to keep in mind is the windstopper shell doesn't compress down as well for packing compared to the microlite shell.......idont think your really gaining much going to the windstopper shell unless you plan to be in wetter conditions most of the time. I know a lot of guys run a TiGoat bivy for those time you might need it.....another thing I heard was windstopper didnt let bag breathe out as well......I had a apache with windstopper but the upgraded to the Kodiak with microlite

Thanks akrdkill. That actually helps quite a bit. I do have every intention of hunting AK a few times in the next 5-6 years so would it be worth investing in the GWS bag anyway?

Or, maybe I go with the RAB with the Pertex endurance fabric and use the savings to grab a bivy as well?
