I’ve been wanting an e-bike for a LONG time. I’m at the stage of life where time is scarce and efficiency is king, and on countless hunts and scouting missions, I’ve daydreamed about a set of wheels to get me in and out more quickly.

I’m not a bike guy, but I am a gear guy. I happily started the research process, and I quickly determined that I valued durability, function, and dependability above all else. I didn’t need fancy accessories or top-of-the-line components, and e-bike regulations in my state required a motor of 750 watts or less. Battery performance was a top consideration, too. On the rare extended trip I do get to take, I don’t always have the ability to top-off or recharge batteries. I happily found the QuietKatRanger XR – a bike that, on paper, met all my needs perfectly.

I’ve spent a few months with the Ranger XR, and I’ve used it to hunt turkeys and scout for upcoming fall seasons. I’ve been really impressed, and I’ve had a ton of fun.

This thread will serve as the discussion thread for my review. In the meantime:

I have been using an e-bike for my hunting purposes on several properties for the past three years. It has been a life-saver. I have to travel a minimum of 2.5 miles to get to the property I primarily use the bike for, and take my daughter with me. I have rigged my Hawke Crawler to attach to my bike and my daughter will sit in that going in and when we come back out. If we should harvest a deer/more than one deer I haul her back to the truck first, and then I put our deer in the crawler to haul back. I am using a Juiced brand bicycle with a 52v battery that can handle over 300lbs of weight in the crawler (I've tested it, and had a buck two years ago that was 240lbs dressed). I have had this bike through foot deep snow, on ice, in rain, etc. The great thing, it cost about half of what Rambo or Quiet Kats begin at. I think I paid about $2000 for a 750w motor with a 52v battery version at the time, and I know prices have decreased since then. The Juiced bikes come with virtually identical components regarding the motors, tires, gears, etc. They are very basic looking, but they get the job done-mine has been invaluable. Several people I know have purchased them after my recommendation. Regardless of what brand you choose, and depending on your situation, e-bikes can be a game changer!!

The Ranger XR is $1,999!
