What’s everyone’s thoughts on cold weather
Tree stand quiet fleece outer layer ?
Trying to steer away from 2000 Canadian dollars for the Sitka extreme stuff

Is this for tree stand hunting and does weight matter? I ask bc I bought some stuff from Midway for cold weather tree stand hunts and it’s cheep and crazy warm. Heavy but full range of motion in a stand.

I'm not a fan of fleece as an outer layer. It picks up too many hitch hikers along the way and can be a sponge in wet weather. I also believe all that thickness and loft can be wasted because the wind cuts through it pretty good. I love fleece as insulating layers under wind proof outer layers.
And I've owned the first and second generation Sitka Fanatic and sold the fleece one.

Weight is not an issue neither is picking up friends along the way. Hiking in it won’t be worn anyways even in the Canadian -30 C.
No one wants to be sweatin in that cold ... be a dam popsicle come 6-o’clock lol
Just some kinda cozy warm ish over later to keep the scratchy noise of most high market puffys.
If you hunt where I hunt. When I hunt it don’t rain
And if it somehow did it would be in the form of pellets ha ha
Was looking at the cabelas Berber fleece line but !! Again can’t get jack S*** up here in Canuck land without paying a billion dollars shipping.
What’s at bass pro they will not send to cabelas Canada. My word.
I’ll take a look at the midway partner THANKS for that :)

Cabela’s wooltimate is fantastic for cold weather treestand hunting. Deadly silent and totally wind proof. And honestly really cheap for what you get

I got the Elk Creek coat & bibs from Midway, they are warm, dead silent & I have spent hours in the rain & wet snow in them without getting wet. I got them on sale 2 years ago for $60. Each. They are not fleece, but are just as quiet, more durable & shed water better than fleece.

Exactly! I think the best bet is to try to find a relatively quiet outer garment and use whatever fleece you want for insulation. I have the Cabela's Windproof Berber fleece. In some ways I like it because it is quiet and does block the wind, however all of the bulky insulation is wasted because you still have to wear inside layers to stay warm.
