I have questions on the RS recoil lug from UM. I picked one up used on the forum, per seller it never had an action placed in it and I believe him.
I have 2 RS’s and I am trying to determine if this is the stock for me. That will be another thread when I have time to test and compare the stocks I have waiting. Now the issue, the RS I orders shoots well with a 6.5 CM Tikka inlet factory bottom. It’s as good or slightly better groups than the factory stock.
The used RS I purchased shoots terribly. 2-4”groups on a new Tikka 223 16” threads factory bottom. I’ve tried 5 different types of ammo and reset the action in the stock no less than 3 times. I then pulled the recoil lug from the factory stock after reading UM “May” have issues with a batch of recoil lugs. I am unable to get the factory RL to sit in the RS. Each stock with their respective RL’s I can seat with a strong thumb push, but need pliers to remove. I would like to try the factory RL in the RS before I engage UM. Yes soon I will try the 223 in the 6.5 RS I ordered, just tired of chasing my tail on this one. The 223 shoots fine in factory stock 1.2” 10 shot groups.
Question is should a factory RL drop into the RS and should a UM RL drop into a factory stock?

Factory stock.

6 shots with RS. Stopped at 6 since it wasn’t getting any better.
I’ve measure both RL’s with my high dollar factory HB caliper and I do not really see and real measurable difference.
