So have a question for you all
I am wanting to get a couple of suppressors. Mainly looking to get 2.
The thing I am trying to figure out is to go ahead and get one now when the stores have them but still have to pay the $200 stamp.
Or wait until the first of the year when the $0 stamp goes into effect and take a chance on there not being any stock on the cans at the stores.

I could see where people are waiting until the first of the year when the tax stamp money is zero and then possibly being harder to find a can in the store to even buy.

What do you all think.
Do you think when the first of the year comes up that Cans will be harder to find in the shops?

Depending on where you buy from, I have seen a few places advertising a free tax stamp. Regardless of that, I would (and did) pay for the tax stamp now. Shooting suppressed is so much better!!!

A few stores I've talked to are letting guys purchase the suppressor, then are willing to hold it until the $0 tax starts. Could be worth an ask, especially if the SOT is a range and you can use it in the meantime.
Yep. If you see something you want in stock, i'd inquire if this is an option if you'd like to wait to save tax stamp $. Edit to add: wouldn't be surprised if stamp processing time is a bit longer for submittals in early Jan either.

I would get your suppressor(s) now and use it for hunting season this year. It's such a great difference that I wouldn't wait another four months to save $200. And I fully expect a lot of people will be waiting for January 1 to buy them.

I was really disappointed last hunting season that it took longer to get my rifle cut and threaded than to get my suppressor approved.

Edit - I also would pick very carefully and not be tempted by a free tax stamp in making your decision. As far as I am concerned, there are only two suppressor manufacturers with which I would bother (US/UM and AB). I'm working hard this week to try to get enough of a surplus to get another OG before November.

Personally, after shooting suppressed the last year, I'd gladly pay the $200 now to shoot one his year. Maybe pick up one now and see if your dealer will wait to process the other after the first of the year. I have a funny feeling that they are going to get pretty hard to find come by after Jan 2026.

I'd split the difference, get one now so you can immediately start using it. The other one I'd go ahead and buy now but tick the box (most vendors I've seen will hold it) to hold it til Jan 1. So you won't be dealing with stock issues, but you'll deal with ATF backlog.

Is there a pool going for what the approval time will end up being for a tax stamp submitted Jan 2?

I would not be a bit surprised if we went back to the 1 year or more wait times. Between the avalanche of stamps and potential "screw you for preventing us from getting this revenue" attitude at the ATF, I bet it gets really slow for a while.

Plenty of places are offering to hold your suppressor unitl January so you can avoid the fee. I would shop around since labor day weekend usually has some sales too.
