PVA Cayuga Terminal Performance

I thought I had read some reports from @khuber84 at some point with mixed results? I may be mistaken though.
Yeah it's a mono that does not expand much. They are accurate and fast tho! Most animals went down with one shot, but required knife to finish them off. Elk took 4 rounds, although first 3 were only catching offside lung. 4th was high shoulder cns, and put it down. I'll take a properly constructed match bullet.

Adding this link I found with some kills from a published article. I will add some kills this fall with the 122g out of a 6.5 PRC.

What is your load data for these? Length, powder, etc. I am trying to get them to shoot in my 6.5 prc and I am getting really slow velocities

I did a custom load through Vantage Research- I can’t find my comparator but COAL is 2.96”, 53.5g h4350. 3017fps avg but only about 85 rounds down my tikka t3 22” barrel. The base load they had was like 57g of h4350 and it locked my bolt but hit 3299 fps. Hopefully that helps. I am also working on a custom load with UM and will keep you posted as that gets finalized

Thanks. I have tried 7828, A4350, H414 and struggle to get 2900 before pressure signs on a 22in barrel. Might just have a slow barrel. Its a weatherby 307 long action that they discontinued and switched to a short action

I was told they tried all kinds of powder and h4350 was the best for speed

I am considering trying these on deer in California, possibly using the 6mm 100g in a 1:7" twist 6cm. However it does not appear to love H4350. I'll try another powder.

The owner of Vantage is a good friend of mine, lives bout 30 mins away, his ammo shop is badass. My main source of hard to find components during the shortage!

Tried speeding them up, max charge of H4350 and a max charge of Varget.

I dont think these are stabilizing. It's low DA here and JBM shows very marginal stability, I think these bullets are just a touch too long. Probably will work better at elevation but I'm done messing with them. Expensive experiment.

I’m surprised with the 1:7

Is that at 100 yards?
