Puffy vest or jacket....

I love vests but I love having a hood more and if you are pulling out a puffy to get warm I think you should be warming as much of your body up as possible at once. Not just your core chest area.
 
Well it commonly reaches -20 C and occasionally -30 C at least a few times every November in Alberta. So I wouldn't be caught without an insulated jacket. I bring a puffy coat for late August/early September hunts as well since it occasionally drops below freezing and snows in the mountains then as well. The weight difference between a vest and a jacket is mere ounces. The warmth difference is incredible.
 
I have the FL Puffy Vest and I use it mostly for insulation or cool mornings without wind. I agree with everyone above for where your are going that arms and more important the hood to trap head warmth especially if your god given insulation left you in your 30's.
