Proven load combinations for CVA Accura V2?

What have you CVA guys found is the best powder/projectile combo for the Accura V2?

My .50 Cal Accura V2 shoots well with this combo. I haven't tried many different load combinations because this one produces 1-1.5 MOA groups from a bench using peep sights which is plenty good for me.

110-120 grains (by volume) Blackhorn 209 under a 250 grain Thor. Federal 209A primers.

I did a test with 300 grain Hornady FPB bullets, when I bought my gun. Went from 90 grains of blackhorn 209 up to 120 (5 grain increments by volume, but precisely weighed out), using winchester 209A primers. My groups really tightened up around 105 grains.

I have a T/C Omega, but wanted a ML better capable with fullsize conicals so bought a CVA Accura V2 thinking it would be the ticket.........and then I found out that they aren't designed for any lead conicals over 400gr. I wanted to shoot the 460gr No Excuses. Has anyone tried anything above 400gr in their CVA?

I am new to muzzleloading, but everything I have read indicates most find the best accuracy with under 100 grains of powder. I am sure heavier bullets are ok with smaller charges, but I am interested what more experienced people have to say. I was interested in trying the no excuse bullets as well.

I'm going to try some 460's at maybe 90gr and see how they do. This is for close-up rut hunting elk for my girls so we certainly don't need 150gr of powder, or even 100gr for that matter with a 460gr solid lead conical. I'd just like to make sure they get a pass through on them. The Powerbelt Platinum 338gr that my daughter used mushroomed to the size of a quarter and stopped at the offside hide (30 yard shot), but it shed almost half its weight. I'd like to see two holes and at least one drop of blood.

I shoot the 460 in my wolf which is a shorter barreled cva. It does well at 85ish grains of 777 over a felt wad.

The best combo I've found in my CVA Accura V2 is 250 grain Hornady SSTs (45 cal bullet, 50 cal sabot) with 2 triple 7 magnum pellets (60 grains each). It's very accurate and effective so far. I've killed a bull elk and two mule deer bucks with the combo. Not a ton of data there but each died with one shot and less than 30 yard recoveries. That said, next time I draw a muzzle loader tag I'll test BH 209 with heavier bullets. Note that sabots and pelleted powder are legal in New Mexico, but not everywhere.

My best load so far was Hornady SST 250gr with Harvester crush rib sabots over 90 by vol. BH 209. Was very accurate to 250 -300 yds but not super fast in my Accura V2. It also matches the BDC on my Bushnell Trophy DOA 250 scope well.

100 grains of blackhorn by volume, CCI 209M primer and 300 grain SST has been solid out of my Optima. Now I just need to actually be able find something I can kill with it.

80gr by weight BH209, Winchester primer-- shot Harvester Scorpion PT Golds (Black Sabot) under 2" at 150 yards and very similar accuracy with the Harvester Sabertooth (CO compliant, no sabot).

So I’m looking at going this direction. I just order the sizing kit but I know nothing about wads. Do wads need lub or is a certain company better than others?

The bullets have enough lube that I just touch the side and stick it on. I cut mine with a 1/2" gasket punch out of felt. Mine shoots 504's well.

I ended up changing out stock sights for William's gear and havent got a chance to sit down at the range again. I'll keep you posted.

Mine is an Optima V2 but I would think the Accura V2 would like the same loads. Load data on each target.
