It might be lower. I don't have a single person that I know of in my group of friends and acquaintances that reloads. Not one. And I grew up hunting so it's a lot of people. For virtually all hunters there is zero juice to squeeze there to make them more effective. Going from 1.25" to 0.75" groups does not make anyone a more effective hunter.

Reloading is simply an additional hobby on top of hunting that you have to make time for. And that's ok. But that's the reality.

The 7BC interests me because I can re-barrel my 270 and get what guys are seeing with 280AI and 270AI reloads out of factory ammo that has no more recoil than what I shoot now. And it will do it with a super short barrel, which I want.

I am in Missoula and have been reloading for 30 years. I'll be your acquaintance. But I get and agree with what you're saying.

I'm not saying it's the majority of people who reload. Even if I didn't reload i would have concerns on longterm availablity. All of your eggs are in the Federal basket at that point from what we've seen if you gtab a rifle in this chambering. Why would any ammunition maker branch out to get a small piece of that action and help proliforate adoption and success of this cartridge when it would take away from their own sales? I'm sure tooling to make that case is going to be extremely expensive. So why would an ammunition maker invest a ton of money on a new process that is far from proven and only help Federal? Let alone a market share that might never break over from an ROI perspective. It's a huge gamble that I believe most will watch from the sideline.

I was stating that's my personal take on it regarding reloading and I'm positive that many here share that sentiment. I'd rather wildcat something to get what I wanted where I could control the variables long term.

I am surprised at the amount of support it is gathering though from rifle manufacturers and even Proof. I'm all for new ideas that help progress what we know about cartridges so please don't get me wrong. I feel this is a pretty large uphill battle for Federal. But hats off to them for going well outside of the box when there are still some easier layups to be had.

I spoke face to face with the manager of QC at Seekins. I may be paraphrasing but he said the PH2 action broke at 150 rounds of 7BC and that is why they redesigned the action for the PH3.

As I understand it, there are more rounds in the works for higher pressure than just the BC. But I have not seen anything public about it.

If it’s no sweat than a written statement of acceptance of liability for its suitability in a given action.

Or maybe have them install the barrel and fire some proof loads in it. They should be willing to replace a damaged action from a proof load if they are confident.

Every action sold today can handle the added "pressure" of the 7bc. Your dad's rifle was tested well over 65k before it was approved for sale. If your scared let the big boys show you its possible first then you can come play.
