7prc, 18" barrel. all the carbon barrels i own are proof. ive read good things about hells canyon as well. bartelin is out the question for me. has anyone run both and find one has proven better as far as accuracy? or is it a cant go wrong either way kind of thing?

Sample of 1 HCA 7 SAUM barrel on a HCA build, was not impressive. Enough so that I replaced it with a krieger steel barrel that actually shoots well before it was shot out. You're not really saving weight wiht an 18" tube so I wouldn't get carbon at all but proof or benchmark before HCA if i wanted to burn another $300+ to go carbon.

Wouldn’t take another HCA barrel for free.

I think Proof makes a decent barrel

I’m also in the boat that thinks carbon isn’t worth it
to be honest, my manners has a sendaro inlet and i dont want it to look like a hotdog down a hallway lol. but why are you anti hca? just curious. thanks for your two cents!

I had a terrible experience with hca which ended with a carbon barrel chambered by hca sitting on a shelf in my basement as a 1200$ paperweight.

Hot dog down a hallway is better than super tight. The looks are different but really not bad and there is only functional upside

I have had great barrels from C6, but their customer service and lead times are far from great. The 1 proof carbon I had, shot fine. Christensen arms carbons have been great for me as well. Based on no personal experience and only online reports, I would steer far away from HCA.

I've had 4 steel barrels in a sendero channel, you must be buying the cheap hotdogs.

Next barrel is a benchmark carbon, just couldn't pull the trigger on a Proof.

at this point im open to benchmark as well. i guess its just a matter of what i can get my hands on.

4 out of 5 hunting barrels i have are proof carbon prefits. one i had to send back and they replaced no problem. all of them shoot great. the 5th is a carbon six which also shoots pretty good.

10 shot group with the HCA cabron barrel in a 28 nos. I pulled the last shot so I refuse to count it 🤣

My HCA shoots lights out as well, no question the best barrel I’ve ever had. I’m about to order another one.

If I’m not mistaken I thought all HCA barrels were Benchmark barrels that HCA wraps in house? Early on he was using Rock Creek but has since switched to Benchmark since 2020? From one independent test that was online, and posted here I believe, the HCA barrels were the stiffest tested.

I’d just have either the rem varmint (fit great in your barrel channel) or the #5 (save a good amount of weight) spiral fluted out to 17” for an 18” finish. Likely shoot better, similar weights, and you’d have it in just a few days.

I’ve had both proof and HCA that shot great though. Neither of them are worth it to me though for a minor aesthetic increase.

I have #5 barrels in proof sendero barrel channels. It looks fine to me. At least I know the barrel is floated lol
