This seems like an overreach from the article I read. I dont advocate for baiting in Iowa, but at the same time I can't get behind the way a search was executed. Luckily we have a law targeting this type of surveillance, but that bill I believe was designed to prevent animal welfare groups from going into processing and breeding facilities.

The key issue is whether the DNR officer’s affidavit supporting the initial search warrant is truthful. If it is the hunter has little chance of success. However, if material facts in the affidavit are false the DNR officer could also be charged with perjury and lose his job. I will say it seems very strange that the DNR officer refused to disclose the identity of the CI to the local prosecutor handling the DNR case. Something is going on there and it will be fleshed out during discovery in the federal civil case.

How is it legal for the officer to cover his camera while he dug up a mineral site I assume?

Tampering with private property?

Officer is just human, humans do stupid shit often!

Never heard of the “famous” pro hunter either!
