The Antis and outfits like Nature Conservancy [a very deceiving name] are trying to eliminate Mule Deer on Catalina Island off the coast of SoCal.
Report;
Catalina Island is home to long‑established mule deer and bison populations, roughly 4,000 residents, and a tourism‑driven economy! The Conservancy previously sought permits to cull the deer, claiming the animals damage native plants, which has been disputed by both residents and experts.
The coalition, which includes SCI, the California Rifle and Pistol Association, the California Bowmen Hunters/State Archery Association, Howl for Wildlife, the California Deer Association, and the Coalition to Save Catalina Island Deer, argues that the state RUSHED the decision without proper environmental review, violating CEQA and ignoring reasonable alternatives such as regulated hunting.
The coalition is calling for:
🦌
A full CEQA environmental review
🦌
Comprehensive scientific analysis
🦌
Consideration of alternatives
🦌
Genuine public input

Maybe its time to start contributing to a sportsman's org, eh?

Been on here awhile:

It’s way bigger than just Catalina Island. HOWL for wildlife has been on top of that.

I will just highlight that sportmens group in Colorado are in a full blown pitched battle with anti-hunting groups, like Center for Biological Diversity and the former CatsArentTrophies-Prop 127 people, and the CPW Commission. Have a fur ban, beaver harvest ban, and more coming down the pipe on the legislature and commission side.

Coloradans for Responsible Wildlife Management. with support from RMEF, SCI, WSF, BHA, and whole host of other orgs, are engaged on the front lines right now.
