Preferred saddle hunting bag

Popup 28 for me. Platform or stand (upside down, seat facing back) in the load shelf. Layers in the bag, saddle in the bag, repel rope in dump pouch on right side of PU 28 waist belt molle, Sladder in dump pouch on left side of PU 28 waist belt molle.

I used the Kuiu venture Divide 2000 all last season. Picked it up on sale for $150. I love the size of it for walking in deep. Not too big not too small. I can fit my sticks, saddle and platform (xl) easily. I even used it through late season when I’m typically packing in my outerwear. It’s surprising how much you can stuff into this pack. When I get to the tree I’m able to access everything without a zipper as well which is a plus. Only concern Id have is if you’re planning to pack out quarters rather than boning out. Otherwise it’s been awesome.
Hello, I have a couple of questions. Is your platform a Tethrd Predator XL? Any issues with durability on the divide pocket taking the platform in and out for a whole season? Looks like from your pictures the divide stretch material is stretched out pretty far. Any knowledge on the Divide 3000? - the divide pocket looks to be closer to your back but fir some reasons looking at the dimensions the pocket is smaller than the Predator XL. Thanks for any info you can provide - Brian

Check out twisted iron hunting. The pack rat will carry your saddle in a padded sleeve & sticks attached to the back with backpack straps. It's a no-nonsense pack that carrys your platform & sticks. The pack rat attaches to the tree for your knee pad once you're up, so it's pulling double duty. They got a couple different bags that directly attach to pack rat if you want something that hauls your gear too.

I'm not a saddle hunter but I have one. Its a bit too much bag for tree stand hunting. I still prefer my Badlands Super Day for 98% of my hunting.

Thanks I appreciate the feedback, I will look into that pack.

DO you know roughly much this setup and your saddle and ropes weigh?
I have some stuff in storage, so cant weigh everything—but the pack weighs 4lb I think. 4 Sticks are 6lb including the aiders and straps. My platform is 3lb. Saddle + full kit (linemans, tether, strap to hang stuff, pull cord, my release, an extra prussik and a few biners, etc—everything to be in the tree) is 4.5lb. The rest is kill kit, headlamp, spare clothing etc. which means the full pack ready to go into the woods is about 20lb. That includes everything except the bow.

Last ~month of the season I switched to Eberlestock's Modframe with the EMOD lid. Strapped platform or stand on frame with outer layers between the platform and straps. Dump pouches on waist belt. Odds/ends in the lid. It worked very well.

If I’m close to the truck and planning on dragging a deer, kifaru shape charge. If I’m going to be packing meat, EXO k4 with a crib and lid early season or 7200 when I’m bringing more layers.
