Jeep Wrangler. Goes everywhere our sxs could go and then some, but w heat and heated seats. Also can better handle the weight of our wall tent camp down the 1 hour jeep trail. Sold sxs and plan on adding a Gladiator to our family for more cargo room.

my current pickup is the best hunting rig on the market for what i do (colorado zr2)

eventually that will change when we move to wyoming, but the zr2 is the ultimate roosie rig

There is only one stock truck that offers all of this...

front rear Lockers, >10k towing, front/rear camera, 12k lb winch, can fit 35s stock with no rub, room for wife + 3 kids and dogs, all gear, coolers and meat can fit in the 6.5ft bed, rides softer than any truck on the road outside of a Raptor, electronic disconnecting swaybar, crawl mode, 13" tpuchscreen, heated/cooled seats, heated wheel, power folding mirrors (clutch when the trail gets tight)...the list goes on.

I've been through almost everything... tacos, 4 runners, GX460, 80 Series landcruiser, raptor, F250, Ram 3500.

Would take the Powerwagon over all of them, and twice on Sunday.

There is zero chance I'm taking a $70k truck the places I've taken my cherokee. If money wasn't an issue I would think about it..but then still not sure it would make it...

I’m not sure if Alaska counts as western but I’d say a Piper super cub. It would be nice to be able to hunt from a pickup though.

Tend to keep vehicles for several years, so my sample size is small. Lots of trips out west and into the mountains, only a few vehicles to compare against one another. Out of the ones I've abused in the mountains, I've been very happy with my 4th gen 4Runner, 3" lift, 32" tires, no modifications, no rubbing. Full size spare.

Any rig you can sleep in comfortably. I currently drive a Tundra with topper. Pull a trailer for most elk hunting trips but have slept out of the tundra several times when hunting solo. I’ve had many trucks and SUV’s over the years. All trucks have had a topper to keep gear and myself dry. And as long as I could sleep inside the SUV’s were perfect. But if I liked having a car payment I would be buying an all wheel drive mid roof Ford Transit Crew. There is nothing like having instant access to your gear and being able to almost stand up while getting dressed.

I just picked up a 99 Pathfinder with 130K on it. Looking forward to using that out hunting. Also just picked up a Polaris Rzr that could come in handy.

15-17 hand Calc with 87 Oct (we live at 7k)..Oct... get a little better with 89 but not worth the price dif. Trips up over the passes usually average 16.5mpg or so round trip, that's going 75mph both ways.

There is no diesel version Powerwagon.

I use my 2018 Ford F250 Platinum, but it's far from ideal as a hunting rig. It excels in comfort, capacity and towing. I'm not picky about it getting scratched. And it's fine when the backcountry roads are dry. But, the mud and snow capabilities are not great. I'm considering getting something with better off road capabilities.

Digging this setup. Love the carpet bed, but not practical for me for other uses.

Currently working on a 2005 Jeep Liberty with a diesel motor. Have an old military trailer to pull my wheeler. Hoping to have enough room for 2 guys, gear and the wheeler between the roof rack, trailer and storage in the Jeep with the seats down. Should be a decent set up for hunting out East.

Been waiting on parts for the lift kit since the beginning of October. Wont make this hunting season but home to have is going for next season.

I had that Jeep with a 3" OME lift plus Rocky Road upper arms. Very capable rig. Took that Jeep to 300,000 miles and retired it. I really liked that Jeep.

If a SXS or Quad is being considered, I have to assume you have a way to pull it. If you can pull it, an ATV/UTV is going to provide you tons of access points. I have started using my quad as a way to get me into country that full size pickups cant go, then I backpack in from that point. Less crowding as your typical SXS/ATV crowd plans on base camp hunts. Orrrr just get horses and call it a day.

Waiting on the Rocky Road lift to come in. It has been 12 weeks since I ordered it. Hoping for this week.

This Jeep currently has 189,000 on it. Once I get the lift in and work out all those kinks I am going to do the timing belt and fuel pump. Should be a pretty reliable set up and very capable for most anything I will see here in NY.

Yep, diesel with GDE tune. It was a bullet proof rig. At 300k it was getting to where I would need to put money into the axles and transmission just for wear.
