I’m planning on trying some new loads for my 7mm Rem Mag. Any recommendations on bullets would be great. The only two rounds that have my attention at the moment are Barnes TSX and Hornady Eld-x.

Have had solid results with hornady 154 gr ssts…that being said my experience says placement is the key so find a good shooting setup for your gun🤙

No experience on elk but 160 grain partitions have been great on mountain goat, Sitka black tail, black bear, redstag and tahr. May not be the 100% most accurate bullet but they hit hard

160 Accubond
150 or 160 Partition
140, 150, or 160 Barnes-X

All good choices. Accubonds are my favorite, although the bull in my avatar died via 160 Barnes TSX, fwiw.

I shot 2 bulls with a 220 grain ELDX (300 Win Mag) awesome bullet! My sons shot 2 elk with 7 mm mag Federal Terminal Ascent 155 grain, both 1 shot kills, 1 at 660 yards the other at 600 yards. I was so impressed I sold my 300 and bought a 7 mm mag. Our Bergara B14 Wilderness Ridges love these rounds. They guns also like the Berger 180 VLDs.

Don't know your twist rate or if you mean factory, but I've had fantastic luck with my 280AI and 143gr Hammer Hunters.

Another favorite of mine are 160gr partitions.

I have been shooting 175 gr. Nosler partitions for years out of my 7mm STW. My hunting load shoots phenomenally. Extremely happy with the accuracy and performance on game.

I took my son on a mule deer hunt last year and the outfitters all used 180 grain Bergers for elk & deer. All their rifles were set up out to 1000 yards. They swear by the Bergers.

Thanks everyone for the input. Many more rounds to consider.

No clue on the twist rate. I inherited the gun from my dad. Gun was rebarreled in the late 60’s to 7mm from .257 Robert’s if I remember correctly.

My grandfather had a load that shot well out of this rifle, killed my last elk with it.

I can’t remember the exact specs, but it is written on the box. I will update when I get home from vacation.

I had good luck with the eld x 175gr out of my 7prc I took down a bull at 520yards. Look at the 162gr eldx due to twist rates. You might also want to look at hammer bullets for deep penetrating options.

Have had very good terminal results with a Barnes 145gr. LRX out of a 280 Rem. at just over 3,000 fps at the muzzle.
