I have a pre-war Model 70 30-06, serial number 227 for sale or trade. It’s not completely original. It’s been re-barreled, re-blued and stock refinished. I bought it in this condition to use the action for another build. Even though it’s not original it’s too pretty for me to cannibalize. So, it’s up for sale or trade. I’m asking $1,400 or will consider trades for a classic stainless model 70 375 H&H or 243 or 308 fwt. I’m happy to send pictures via text at. 907-738-3000. Thanks. I’m having trouble uploading the full length pictures. I’ll see if I can get someone a little more tech savvy to help me out.

Great old rifle!! I have two three digits myself and love the early ones. The barrel appears to a vintage 70 barrel as well. What year is the barrel, just curious? Looks like a pretty good blue job as well. I’m not a fan of buffing or making the finish too polished looking. Looks like the blue was done well. Also, wondered if the rear bridge was tapped or not. Can’t really tell with the peep. Love the peep being there. That’s how it was born and appreciate everyone along the chain of ownership keeping it on there.

Rear bridge is not tapped. I don’t know the year of the barrel, only that it is a pre-64 vintage.

Awesome and thanks for the info. The barrel should have the year of production stamped dead center, near the boss mark on the bottom, immediately in front of the receiver. Also, looks like the front sight is milled as a part of the barrel blank rather than attached as a separate unit. That indicates an early barrel. The fact the rear bridge hasn’t been drilled/tapped helps it too. Thanks again for the info.

I'll pull it out of the stock after work and let you know.
