Typically id consider a synthetic stock on a pre64 anything to be akin to lipstick on a pig but my kiddo has a 257 Ackley improved on a model 70 action. Its a pre war clover leaf and the barrel contour is about a #3. Its got a tiger maple stock that needs inlet and I've got a guy working on it but he's taking his time. Don't really want the kiddo bashing up that pretty wood right out of the gate.

I have a McMillan on my pre-64 Model 70. The MonteCarlo. They can pretty much make it how you want. I had another one made for a Ruger and changed the fire grip to a Sako beaver tail (wide and flat bottom for my big mitts).

Brown precision

I'd like to find a more vertical grip stock for a pre 64 model 70...

I sent a Manners MCS-T Post 64 to Long Rifles Inc. They filled it and inletted it for my Pre War action. They claim they can do it to most McMillan and Manners stocks.
