Anyone else see the classic PrAna Zion Straights have been discontinued and there replacement is a different material? Just ordered some of the older style off REI before they are all gone. Reviews of the new materials seem to beg for the old style back.

Yeah, I dont have the legs to wear the straights, but I religiously wear the regular zions for everything from daily wear to early season, to mid season until I need the sitka mountain or timberlines. I probably have 8 pairs of them - ordered the new version to try out, sent them back and am trying to buy what I can find in my size of the older model before they are gone.

But the regular new version is straight up, junk - and they bumped the price up $10. The material is thin, feels like 1 trip through any kind of brush would do them in. They new regulars fit somewhere closer to the old straights in the waist and hips and bagger in the legs. The biggest problem of all is, theyve cut the crotch down to where you are picking a side. Maybe its gender neutral. 5.11 pants usually have a high crotch and these felt worse than those.

No earthly idea why companies feel the need to jack with things that dont have problems. This is that.

Just got a new pair. Thought I could live with them but the material is shiny! It reminds me of the polyester pants the old ladies wore to church when I was a kid.

I have a pair of shorts with the new material. It’s definitely a downgrade—shiny, thin. They also have a weird redesign of the button (never had issues with the other button, so don’t know why that changed).

Have two pairs of old design and love them. Ordered the new ones and they are way different. Too thin and sizing is definitely different. Now they are slimmer fit. Returned.

I know. For the price you can't beat them. I will be trying to find the older design ones.

That blows. Too many squats I’ve sized myself out of my straights, down to one pair of the regulars. Those are my favorite pants.
I guess the search for an alternative begins.

They ruined the Brions as well. Used to be my favorite work/casual pants and same thing, changed to the thinner, shiny material and made the fit…weird for lack of a better term

That sucks. I'm wearing mine right now to go to Father's day dinner. Wish I would have bought more pairs knowing this.

Can confirm new Zions suck. The button is plastic and mounted to a loose strap of fabric instead of metal and direct to the material.

Material most definitely has a sheen to it. Fit is baggier.

I caught the material in the corner of a drawer in my kitchen (metal drawer) and it ripped a huge hole with little resistance.

The fact that they are more expensive is just the icing on the cake.

This is terrible to hear. Probably will go with Eddie Bauer instead going forward.

Any other pants similar to the Zions? Kuhl?

I haven't personally worn the EBs but a lot of guys here seem to like them. They are probably going to be the next ones I try. I'm still looking for my replacement brand. These are all I wear year round.

They are fine for how cheap they are. But I loved that the zions were more durable and the material was more quiet

How do you tell the old style from the new ones? I really like the zions.
