I've just bought Outdoor Research Ferrosi pants. The closest fit to the old Prana Zion IMO. They are a bit more stretchy and a tad lighter. They are on sale now on their website.

Good. Zions are my go to shorts and the pants are great too. I have a good supply of the old ones, but they are starting to show their age. Tried the new ones. No thanks. hopefully they hit by next summer, of i am gonna have to move on.

As much as I love prana zions (old version) they just lose their shape after couple days in the field. It annoying and the built in belt slips bad.

Looks like these are scheduled to be released in the fall. Says 9/1 on their literature, the woman at the Prana store I called said "early september, maybe."

Can't come soon enough for me, I'm wearing my remaining pairs ragged.

Bad news. I was in the big city last week and got a chance to see these in person. They are most definitely not the original Zion fabric. This fabric is lighter, thinner, and still has that odd sheen that the reZion fabric has. Very disappointing. I was all ready to buy half a dozen pairs and stock up, but now I'm in the market for different pants.

The fit also feels different. There is more fabric in the legs and the waist is narrower for the same numeric waist size.

I dont notice any difference in fit or thickness of the material from the old to new ones. Even the back of the material seems the same. Ill take some pics when I get home comparing them. I ordered mine direct from prana - 20% off military discount and free shipping if youre eligible.

There is usually always a little variation in fit between pairs, so maybe I just got unlucky with the pair of new originals I bought. I didn't notice a difference in the material/sheen

The display I was standing at advertised them as the New Original Zion, or something to that effect, and the store clerk told me these were the latest shipment. Maybe I'll order a pair online and see how they feel. Appreciate the info.

Heres a few pics of the old original and new original. Old on left in all 3 pics. I cannot tell any difference between them from the color to the material to the back of the material. If theres a slight color variation its because the original pair is probably 5 years old. 3rd pic is the inside of the material on both.

Thank you for that. Those are not the same pants I saw in the store. I'll order a pair online.

I’m so glad they brought them back just like the originals! I’ve about trashed my favorite pair in the Khaki color, was already beginning the grieving process. I tried some others this year that were pretty good until the temps/activity levels climbed and they just didn’t regulate the temp as well.
Thanks for confirming they are like the originals fellas. This is the info I came here for.
