Hey @Formidilosus , sorry for singling you out… You seem to be very willing to share knowledge and experience. And you clearly have a method for practice and for data collection.
I want to be a better shot than I am. There I said it, I suck. .
I’m in the prep stages of going on a several months long thousands of rounds practice run following the recommendations here https://rokslide.com/forums/threads...ice-posts-and-rifle-practice-shooting.165291/ I plan on starting with the goal of the firs post (“A decent standard is offhand out to 100, standing with sticks at 100-150, sitting unsupported out to 200-250, sitting or kneeling with a pack or sticks out to 300-350, and prone with a pack, etc past that.”) and using lots of dry fire and live fire to get there. I’m know that I’m going to need to keep track of progress as well as realize problem areas. You clearly keep track of round count for each rifle/system that you have and ammo lot stats. What else do you collect for info? Do you use a databook? Do you keep a record of each shooting session? Do you keep pictures of targets? What would be helpful for a newly self-admitted beginner to keep track of? What data points have you found to be the most useful over time? I don’t know what I don’t know.
I really appreciate any and all help/insights. Your experience has been inspirational to me.
Thank you.
